การลดความรุนแรงของโรคไหม้ของข้าวโดยการปลูกแบบหลายสายพันธุ์ในภาคเหนือตอนล่าง 106
Acharaporn Na Lampang Noenplab.
This study was carried out at Phitsanulok Rice Research Center during 2008-2010 aiming for minimizing rice blast severity by growing 2 rice lines differed in blast resistance to broaden rice genetics. In 2008, resistance screening was performed on 2 sets of blast resistant rice lines derived from KDML105 having different donors of resistance developed by Ubon Ratchathani Rice Research Center. Ten selected blast isolates were inoculated one at a time onto 21 day-old seedlings at 50,000 spores/ml and kept at 25 o C in the controlled room for 7 days before assessment. Since selection criteria were based on resistance to half of the tested isolates and an ideal pair should have similar maturity, therefore, none of the lines have been selected. In 2009, the...

Luempua is a dark-purple glutinous upland rice belongs to the Mong hilltribe. The origin prior to the time of seed purification was the mountainous area 450 m above sea level. The variety is normally grown in the wet season under upland condition. To obtain the information for appropriate time of sowing and growing with water as for the lowland sowing, Luempua was sown by transplanting in the cement container every 15 days from 2010-2013 at Phitsanulok Rice Research center (PSL). Results revealed that the most appropriate time of sowing is from mid to the end of May and the lowland areas especially those prone to Brown planthopper infestation are not recommended. Seed conservation was carried out at 3 sites i.e. upland farmer’s field, amphoe Khao Kor,...

Acharaporn Na Lampang Noenplab.
Rice growing areas in the Lower North of Thailand has been severely affected by extreme climate change seen as cold injury in 2007 dry season. The total affected area was 621,176 rai (99,388 ha) resulted in a drastic loss of 2,749 million Baht ($US 89 million). Since it has been reported that the most sensitive stage to cool temperature is the young microspore stage, approximately 8.5-10 days before flowering, and the critical range of temperature for cold injury resulted in panicle sterility is 15-20 oC. This preliminary investigation firstly aimed to observe visible changes after exposing to cool temperatures. Secondly, to observe the relationship between low temperature and sterility. Thirdly, to measure a subsequent reduction in grain yield of rice cv....

Blast disease is a major rice disease causing significant rice yield loss worldwide. These are several methods to control this disease, but the most effective and most suitable method is to use blast resistant varieties. Prachin Buri Rice Research Center has released a rice variety ‘Bahng Taen’, which is resistant to blast in the Eastern region. Bahng Taen is a non-glutinous, photoperiod insensitive, early maturity variety with high yielding ability. However, the ability to resist to blast of this variety is declining drastically. It is, therefore, necessary to improve blast resistance in Bahng Taen by introgressing blast resistant genes into its background from two donors; PSL’07F6No.2 and PSL’07F6No.5. These two resistant lines were derived from the...

The effect of climate change may influence the intensity and severity in some rice diseases, particularly in continuous-cultivation irrigated areas. To study the outbreak of rice diseases in relation to climate change, the experiment using Split-plot in RCB design having 3 replicates was conducted at Phatthalung Rice Research Center during October 2010 to December 2012. The main plot consisted of 12 sowing dates, one month each throughout the year. Sub-plots contained two rice varieties being PSL2 and CNT1. Disease assessment for incidence and severity was carried out in each sub-plot. Meteorological data such as temperature, relative humidity and rainfall were collected from the meteorological station. Based on meteorological data, the average annual...

CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 was a short-growth duration rice variety which was suitable for irrigated area encountered flooding in raining season. This rice variety derived from three–way cross of Suphanburi 1 /IR64//CNT86074-25-9-1. CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 had maturity short growth duration so that it could be early harvested at about 87 days after sowing in wet season and 96 days in dry season. It had recorded yield potential of 1,004 kg/rai with the average yields of 681 kg/rai, which was comparable with the RD41 (742 kg/ rai), but 2% higher than that of RD43 (666 kg./rai). Plant stature of this variety was 80 cm. in height. Its grain was long slender shape, 10.54 mm. in length and 2.70 mm. in width, with straw colored paddy. Its 1,000 grains weight...

CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 is a short-growth duration rice variety which is suitable for growing in the rain-fed area. This rice variety derived from CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2, a product ofthe crossing of three cultivars; i.e. Suphanburi 1, IR64 and CNT86074-25-9-1(Suphanburi1/IR64//CNT86074-25-9-1), that still expressed its genetic diversity while it was growing in a breeder seeds production field. This leaded to the selection of the elite lines, CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 which had an early maturation and short growth duration so that it could be harvested shortly at about 92 days after sowing. It had a fairly high yield potential of1,004 kg/rai with the average yields of 681 kg/rai, which is comparable with theRD41 (742 kg/rai), but higher thanRD43 (666...
