Valoración de la Bahía de Cabañas para el cultivo de pepino de mar Isostichopus badionotus en Cuba (Valuation of the Cabañas Bay for culture of sea cucumber Isostichopus badionotus in Cuba) OceanDocs

Existing conditions in Cabañas Bay are detailed, based on research cruises conducted from February to November 2006. A review of oceanographic, hydro chemical and microbiological parameters is offered. Water temperature presented an average value of 27.49 °C; oxygen availability in general at the bay presents values higher than 5.9 mg/L; salinity showed an average value of 36.8 ups and water pH a mean figure of 8.1. Ammonium presented average values of 0.0254 mg/L; inorganic phosphorus ranged between not detected and 5.6 μg/L; maximum nitrite value corresponded to 0.0045 mg/L; oxygen chemical demand was between 0.43 - 2.63 mg/L and suspended solids ranged from 2.0 to 55.0 mg/L.
