| O manjericão é uma planta medicinal aromática pertencente à família Lamiaceae, rica em óleos essenciais e com grande interesse industrial. Objetivou-se, no presente trabalho, estudar a influência do processamento da folha (inteira e pulverizada) submetida a dois tipos secagem (estufa de ventilação forçada a 38º C e sala com desumidificador), sobre o teor e composição química do óleo essencial. O delineamento utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado (DIC), com 4 tratamentos e 6 repetições. O óleo essencial foi extraído por hidrodestilação das folhas e analisado por CG e CG/EM. | Alpinia zerumbet is a medicinal plant from Asian origin used in folk medicine for the treatment of hypertension, which effect is attributed to terpinen-4-ol, the major component of the essential oil. The objective of this work was to identify the essential oil secretory structures in the leaf, flower, root and rhizome of this plant, and analyze the content and the chemical composition of the oil in the different organs of the plant. Sections were subjected to histochemical test with Nadi reagent for in situ localization of secretion. | 'Maria Bonita' é proveniente do acesso PI 197442, do Banco de Germoplasma North Central Regional PI Station, EUA. É uma cultivar de manjericão de copa arredondada, pétalas róseas e sépalas roxas, indicada para o Nordeste brasileiro. Apresenta hábito de crescimento ereto, o que favorece a colheita manual e mecanizada. A produtividade média de matéria seca de folhas e inflorescências foi de 20,97 g por planta, 26,34% superior à testemunha 'Genovese'. Possui teor de 4,96% de óleo essencial, e rendimento de 1,18 mL por planta. Seu componente principal é o linalol (78,12%). Seu óleo essencial possui atividades antinociceptiva e antigiardial. |

| The efficacy of Ocimum selloi essential oil was evaluated for controlling the growth of mycelia and spores germination Moniliophthora perniciosa. Six compounds (99.89%) of the total oil were identified by GC-MS, of which methyl chavicol, methyl eugenol, β-caryophyllene, germacrene-D, bicyclogermacrene and spathulenol. Essential oil was tested for antifungal activity, which was determined by disc diffusion and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination methods. Application of the oil reduced mycelial growth in a dose dependent manner, with maximum inhibition being observed at concentration of 1,000 ppm.
