Inventory and conservation of endangered, endemic and economically important flora of Hamiguitan Range, southern Philippines . Naturalis
Amoroso, V.B.; Obsioma, L.D.; Arlalejo, J.B.; Aspiras, R.A.; Capili, D.P.; Polizon, J.J.A.; E.B. Sumile.
This research was conducted to inventory and assess the flora of Mt Hamiguitan. Field reconnaissance and transect walk showed four vegetation types, namely: dipterocarp, montane, typical mossy and mossy-pygmy forests. Inventory of plants showed a total of 878 species, 342 genera and 136 families. Of these, 698 were angiosperms, 25 gymnosperms, 41 ferns and 14 fern allies. Assessment of conservation status revealed 163 endemic, 34 threatened, 33 rare and 204 economically important species. Noteworthy findings include 8 species as new record in Mindanao and one species as new record in the Philippines. Density of threatened species is highest in the dipterocarp forest and decreases at higher elevation. Species richness was highest in the montane forest and...

Athyrium erythropodum (Woodsiaceae, Pteridophyta), a new Philippine record Naturalis
Liu, Yea-Chen; Fraser-Jenkins, C.R.; Amoroso, V.B.; Chiou, Wen-Liang.
Athyrium erythropodum Hayata, which was previously thought to be endemic to Taiwan, has recently been discovered in the Philippines. This species has seldom been reported or described in the literature and if so has involved erroneous morphological description and diagnosis, which has caused confusion and partly erroneous taxonomic treatment. A detailed and revised diagnostic description of the species is provided in this report, along with illustrations showing its essential features.

New records, names and combinations of scaly tree ferns (Cyatheaceae) in eastern Malesia Naturalis
Coritico, F.P.; Amoroso, V.B.; Lehnert, M..
Several scaly tree ferns (Cyatheaceae) from eastern Malesia are transferred from Cyathea s.lat. to other genera: Alsophila roroka from Sulawesi; Alsophila lamoureuxii from New Guinea; Alsophila binayana, A. bisquamata, A. mapahuwensis, A. murkelensis, A. ohaensis, and Sphaeropteris pukuana from Seram. A new name is chosen for Cyathea coriacea, Alsophila katoi, which here is first reported for the Vogelkop Peninsula, New Guinea. Alsophila commutata, a tree fern with branched trunks, is first reported from the Philippines, expanding its original distribution from the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. A detailed and revised diagnostic description of this species is provided and a second-step lectotype is chosen.
