Introduction Starting in 1986, the ANVAR contributed well appreciated financial support in order to set up an original seeding technique characterized by artificial seeding production in a laboratory. This advantageous new way of seeding, i.e. independency from nature, yield increase and true competitiveness compared to traditional methods, nevertheless requires strict adherence to a procedure progressively elaborated during numerous trials in laboratory as well as at sea. The program ended in July 1989 after testing the cultivation protocol on a 2 hectare exploitation scale, in order to better detect what could be improved to greatly increase productivity, facilitate the work of the harvester and to better adapt the operating mode to environmental... |

This work is about 14 seasonal campaigns carried out by the oceanographic ships Thalassa, La Pélagia and Roselys in the Gulf of Gascony and the Celtic Sea. It aims to highlight the seasonal quantitative variations of planktonic harvests according to the temperature of the waters. In 1964, four campaigns took place: February (98 stations), May (104 stations), August (101 stations) and November (104 stations), which cover an extensive site, from the headlands of Cornouaille to Cape Finisterre. In 1965, the number of stations was fewer: approximately 22 for each campaign. In 1966 (March: 94 stations, May: 99 stations) and 1967 (March: 125 stations, May: 135 stations, August: 140 stations, November: 134 stations) the sector studied does not include the Celtic... |

The Bay of Biscaysensu lato, from the Cornouaille peninsula to the northern coasts of Spainlines of French coasts and harbours a great number of edible fish. It thus holds a pivotal position in French fisheries oceanography. The Scientific and Technical Institute of Marine Fisheries thus organised oceanographic cruises on board the research vessel "Thalassa" to carry out seasonal studies on ichthyoplankton and environmental factors (temperature, salinity, oxygen) over a five-year period. The ichthyoplankton study had two goals: first, to identify eggs and larvae of all fish species in the area and second, to detect eggs and larvae of certain fish of high economic value, in order to potentially locate adults in the same areas and at the same time... |

This study is the result of analysing harvests from 1965 and 1966 and is an integral part of the campaigns dedicated to the seasonal study of ichthyoplankton and environmental factors in the Gulf of Gascony. It therefore complements the results acquired for the year 1964 and that are already published (S. ARBAULT, N. BOUTIN, 1968) and is an integral part of a programme the later continuation of which will specify even more knowledge of the various species' egg-laying sites and periods, as well as the ecological laws that govern them, which is an important factor for the scientific forecasting of fishing. For this research work, we would like to thank Mrs. M. L. FURNESTIN who, from the beginning, has never hesitated to give us her advice and help. Six... |

This research work was undertaken in 1964, within the more general context of study programmes of the Institute of Science and Technology of Maritime Fishing on teleosteen fish eggs and larvae and the relationship of egg-laying areas with hydrology. Since their catch is a significant contribution to the country's economy (15,000 tonnes of sardines in 1967, 6,000 in 1968, 8,000 in 1969 and 4,427 of anchovies were caught the same year), it seemed necessary to specify the breeding conditions of these fish and the location of their breeding grounds, then to try to forecast fishing stocks. In this research work, we will study more particularly the year 1968, which seems to us very representative and we will compare the results with those of 1964, 1965, 1966... |
