| The often so gaudy coloured Palaearctic representatives of the family Glyphipterigidae are receiving renewed attention after a neglect of many years. In the USSR several genera of the Choreutinae have been revised (the late A. S. Danilevsky, 1964; A. S. Danilevsky & V. I. Kuznetsov, 1973) and a survey of the family in Japan has been initiated by revisions and descriptions of species of Glyphipterix Hübner, Brenthia Clemens, Tebenna Billberg, Choreutis Hübner, etc. (S. Moriuti & T. Saito, 1964; Y. Arita, 1971, 1971a, 1975, 1976). The first author of the present paper is preparing a revision of the Palaearctic Glyphipterigidae, while J. B. | The present synopsis is the result of the study of the first author; his manuscript has been examined by the second author, while the descriptions of the new species are by both authors together. Additions on the material of the Issiki Collection are by the second author. All text figures are by the first author, except figs. 70-71 which are by Mr. J. J. A. M. Wessendorp, of the Leiden Museum. Seven species, A. fabriciana Linnaeus, pariana Clerck, moiwana Matsumura, yakushimensis Marumo, hyligenes Butler, japonica Zeller, and achyrodes Meyrick have been recorded from Japan previously as belonging to the genus Anthophila Haworth, 1811, with the type species Phalaena Tinea fabriciana Linnaeus, 1767. In the present paper these species, except A. fabriciana,... |

| The following pages contain descriptions of three new species of what has been formerly indicated as the "Glyphipterigidae auctorum", from Japan and Taiwan, almost simultaneously discovered by the first author in the Issiki Collection, now at the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, and collected by the second author in Japan. The original material will be deposited in the two above named institutions. The first author is obliged for the permission to retain some paratypes for the collection of the Leiden Museum. We are grateful to the authorities of the Washington Museum for the loan of the Issiki material. The figures are by the second author. One genus, Epicroesa Meyrick, is transferred to the Heliodinidae. Nigilgia Walker Nigilgia Walker,... |
