The objectives of this 5th AtlantOS WP7 meeting were - review progress on the implementation (Task 7.3) of the recommendations and enhancements at Network and Integrator level based on actions decided at the 4th meeting mid-December 2016, - progress on monitoring and traceability services that aims to assess Atlantic Ocean Observation performance and to feedback data providers with statistics for acknowledgement of their contribution to the systems, - follow-up of the Transatlantic workshop held in June 2017 and the actions identified - present the GEOSS workshop on 24th November 2017, starting point for the integration in GEOSS, - review activities on-going in the further tasks of WP7 that aim (1) to assess the impact of AtlantOS observations in... |

The Horizon2020 project AtlantOS works towards facilitating a better link between the data providers involved in AtlantOS and GEOSS, as a global integrator of earth observations, and to make data providers as a community discoverable through GEOSS. A primary goal was to provide the data networks with the necessary information on GEOSS. In order to do so a workshop was held in a full-day event at the AtlantOS 3rd general assembly in a collaborative effort between AtlantOS and GEOSS and the H2020 projects COOP+ and ENVRI+. A team of three persons from GEOSS involved with technical as well as political aspects of GEOSS was invited to give lecturers and hands-on exercises at the workshop. The workshop gave the participating data providers a firsthand... |

In order to explore ways for better Integration of EU and North American data for the Atlantic Ocean, AtlantOS WP7 organized a 2-day international workshop in Brussels on June 7-8, 2017. As AtlantOS has established collaborations with organizations around the entire Atlantic Ocean, we expanded the international outlook to also include South America and Africa in order to better cover the South Atlantic Ocean. The workshop had representation from all bordering continents, and provided an overview of the Atlantic Ocean data landscape identifying key-organizations working with Atlantic Ocean data. Current impediments of transcontinental data exchange and readiness to share data on each continent were discussed from a technical as well as a political... |

Within the H2020 AtlantOS project, WP7 has designed and started to set up an integrated data system that harmonizes work flows, data processing and distribution across in-situ observing network systems, and integrates in-situ observations into existing European and international data infrastructures, named Integrators (e.g. Copernicus INS TAC, SeaDataNet NODCs, EMODnet, EurOBIS, GEOSS). The targeted European data system is not a new system but integrates existing data systems. These systems are being enhanced to ingest and deliver more in-situ observation data on Atlantic Ocean and to better serve the users, in a harmonized way across the systems. The scope of data services for the AtlantOS observations is discovery, download, viewing and... |
