This review of the reproduction of the spiny lobster Panulirus argus aims to provide information that will improve the management decisions, the study in population dynamics and on spiny lobsters aquaculture research. We update the reader on this topic with studies carried out by decades in Cuban archipelago, Florida, Bermuda, Mexico and Brazil. In particular, it was discussed the results of fieldwork studies on reproductive cycle, fecundity, brood size and population egg production. It is pointed out the need to undertake studies in captivity for understanding of the reproductive mechanism and maturation in this specie.
