RENAL MORPHOMETRY OF FETUSES RATS TREATED WITH CADMIUM International Journal of Morphology
Roman,T. R. N.; de Lima,E. G.; Azoubel,R; Batigália,F.
Cadmium is a heavy metal which is found in the soil, air and food. It is present in everyday life and currently it is being implicated as a toxic, teratogenic and carcinogenic agent. It causes lesions to several organs of humans and animals alike. This work aims to investigate the toxic effects on fetuses of dams exposed to cadmium chloride treatment. Ten pregnant rats were divided into two groups. Five rats, the study group, received an intraperitoneal administration of cadmium chloride at 5 mg/Kg body weight on the 10th day of pregnancy and the other five, the study group, received a solution of 0.85% sodium chloride at the same dose and at the same application site. The Cytogenetic Examination as a Tool for the Diagnosis of Chromosomal Disorders International Journal of Morphology
Miziara,R. C; Marques,S. B. S; Marques,J. H. S; Rezende,C; Aquino,R; Cury Rodrigues,V; Azoubel,R.
Clinically significant chromosomal abnormalities occur in about 1% of children born alive. The objective of this work was to offer the patients and the families in the community for the service of the Integrated Clinic of Uniara Health (Araraquara and region), the examination of cariotype (cytogenetic study) for confirmation or exclusion of the diagnostic suspicion of chromosomal abnormalities as well as information (genetic counseling) for the prevention of occurrence and/or recurrence of these anomalies. In the period of one year and four months these were carried out in the Integrated Clinic of Uniara Health and directed for the Laboratory of Cytogenetic Human of the same institution in 66 cytogenetic studies. In 44 patients (66.6%) the results were...

A Statistical Study of the Association of Seven Dental Anomalies in the Brazilian Population International Journal of Morphology
Miziara,R. C; Mendes-Junior,C. T; Wiezel,C. E. V; Simões,A. L; Scuoteguazza,J. A. C; Azoubel,R.
The objective of this study was to show the association patterns among seven types of dental anomalies (second pre-molar agenesis, upper side incisive reduced in size, lower first molar infra-ochlesis, enamel hypoplasia, first molar ectopic eruption, supra numerous teeth and upper canine ectopic eruption) in a population sample without dental treatment ranging in age from 7 to 14. A total of 172 patients were attended and underwent the clinical examination at the Clínica Infantil da Fundação Educacional de Barretas. Eleven patients from this total were selected according to a first dental anomaly diagnosis and submitted to panoramic radiography. A significant association (p<0.05) was detected among six pairs of anomalies (second pre-molar agenesis x...
