Untersuchungen zur Reduzierung von Rhizoctonia solani im ökologischen Kartoffelanbau Organic Eprints
Schleuß, Dr. Uwe; Böhm, Dr. Herwart.
In organic potato production Rhizoctonia solani leads to yield losses and quality deficiency with grave consequences for the saleability. To minimize these disease effects it is necessary to set up a cluster of different cultivation steps. Up to now the application of plant strengthening products shows inconsistent results. In our field trials we found slight yield increases, but especially an improvement of product quality.

Untersuchungen zum Einsatz von Pflanzenstärkungsmitteln im ökologischen Futtererbsenanbau Organic Eprints
Schleuß, Dr. Uwe; Böhm, Dr. Herwart; Loges, Dr. Ralf.
There is a great requirement for cultivation of grain legumes (e.g. peas) in organic farming systems (protein supply for animals, biological nitrogen fixation, previous crop effects). The occurrence of pests and diseases, e.g. Acyrthosiphon pisum, leads to strong yield losses and yield fluctuations. In organic farming systems the use of plant protection products is strongly limited. Plant strengthening products are compatible to this kind of land use and enhance the resistance of plants to harmful organisms. Field trials with some selected plant strengthening products achieve small yield growth under North-German site and climatic conditions, but rarely it is possible to produce statistical evidence. At low up to medium level of disease attack they show...

Zum Einfluss von Standort und Sorte auf Ertrag, Sortierung und Qualität von ökologisch erzeugten Kartoffeln für die Verarbeitung zu Chips Organic Eprints
Haase, Dipl.Ing. agr Thorsten; Krause, Dipl.Ing. agr Tanja; Heß, Prof. Dr. Jürgen; Böhm, Dr. Herwart; Loges, Dr. Ralf; Haase, Dr. Norbert.
Previous experiments (2000-2001) suggested a strong impact of the site on which organic potatoes are cultivated on the quality of tubers for processing to crisps. In 2003 and 2004, six varieties were selected to be examined consequently on three different sites. Total and graded yield was affected by variety and site. Dry matter content of all varieties was on each site above the required level of 235 %. Reducing sugar content of tubers after harvest was very low and crisps quality very high, only after a storage period varieties could be differentiated. Cautious recommendations of varieties for organic crisp production are given in the paper.

Monitoring of click beetles (Agriotes lineatus and A. obscurus) in organically managed farms in Northern Germany Organic Eprints
Böhm, Dr. Herwart; Koppe, Wiebke; Dreyer, Wilfried.
Wireworms, the larvae of Agriotes spp., are an increasing problem on many organically managed farms with potato or vegetable production. The damage caused by wireworms is economically significant. With the use of pheromone traps it is possible to get more information about the habitat requirements of click beetles. In 2005 and 2006 click beetles were monitored at different locations in northern Germany. Because of the warmer springtime in 2005, the first peak of click beetles was about two weeks earlier than in 2006. The second peak was found one month later. The presented data show the highest occurrence of click beetles in ryegrass-clover mixtures in both years. The catches in cereals were much lower than in ryegrass-clover. The reasons for the...
