| This paper describes computer-assisted instruction for financial management which can be used to supplement an undergraduate course or to update training of persons in agribusiness. It is used to review principles of financial management, to illustrate analytical techniques, and to provide practice in the use of financial concepts and techniques. The material covered is similar to that found in traditional textbooks. Student evaluations of the software were fairly positive, but teaching effectiveness needs to be measured. |

| This paper describes four agribusiness simulators which can be processed on a microcomputer for use in undergraduate and extension teaching. The simulators model the environment in which supermarket chains, farm supply centers, and cooperative and proprietary grain elevators compete for business. Instruction manuals, user's manuals, and a diskette are distributed for each simulator. Each diskette contains programs to enter and edit team decisions, to process decisions and print reports, and to create graphs of team performance. The simulators can be used to teach financial management concepts and techniques, as well as economic principles. |

| The Southeast is a net importer of milk and milk products. Milk must be imported from other regions at certain times of the year. Reverse osmosis (RO) is a new processing technology which could significantly reduce milk transportation costs between regions by removing half the water from raw milk prior to shipment. A network flow algorithm, which incorporates federal milk orders and solves for the least cost procurement pattern, was used to assess the impact of RO on southeast milk marketing orders under alternative raw product pricing scenarios. |

| The Supermarket Chain Simulator is used to train persons about business principles and techniques and in supermarket management. Operating decisions are made about product orders, departmental margins, promotions, advertising, store hours and labor. Financial decisions are made about opening new stores, remodeling, investments and loans. From 2 to 5 firms (teams) compete with one another. Decisions made by one team affect its performance and that of rivals. Results are reported in the form of operating statements, balance sheet, inventory, labor and ratio analyses, market share and competitive report, cash flow report and change in balance sheet accounts. |
