Surface Effects on Long-ranger Moored ADCP (RREX case study) ArchiMer

This document reports on the data of upward-looking moored Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers near the surface (down to 300m deep). Those ADCPs show sometimes spurious behavior near the surface, induced by waves and lack of particles. The objective is to discuss these behaviors for a better understanding of our datasets and configuration of our instruments.

Traitement & analyse de séries temporelles de mouillages océanographiques. Exemple du projet RREX (Reykjanes Ridge Experiment) ArchiMer

Le projet RREX propose une étude approfondie des interactions entre les courants océaniques et la dorsale de Reykjanes afin de documenter la circulation autour et sur celle-ci. Le projet repose en partie sur un vaste ensemble de données hydrographiques in-situ. Celui-ci combine des données issues de CTD, d'XBT, de flotteurs Argo et de sept mouillages instrumentés. Ces derniers sont constitués d'une centaine d'instruments (capteurs CTD, capteurs de température, courantomètres/ADCP) déployés entre 2015 et 2017 sur 7 lignes de mouillages entre 300 et 2300m. Nous présentons ici 2 outils développés au Laboratoire d'Océanographie Physique et Spatiale pour prétraiter et analyser ces séries temporelles. argopy: A Python library for Argo ocean data analysis ArchiMer

Argo is a real-time global ocean in situ observing system. It provides thousands of highly accurate ocean measurements every day. The Argo dataset has now accumulated more than 2.3 million vertical ocean profiles and accessing it for scientific analysis remains a challenge. The Argo expert community, focused on delivering a curated dataset of the best scientific quality possible, has never provided its user base with a Python software package to easily access and manipulate Argo measurements: the argopy software aims to fill this gap.
