[Proceedings of the symposium 'Molluscan Palaeontology' : 11th International Malacological Congress, Siena (Italy) 30th August - 5th September 1992 / A.W. Janssen and R. Janssen (editors)]: Studies on the side-branch planorbids (Mollusca, Gastropoda) of the Miocene crater lake of Steinheim am Albuch (southern Germany) Naturalis
Nützel, A.; Bandel, K..
Planorbid shells are abundant in the sediments of the fresh water lake of Steinheim am Albuch throughout its depositional history. They were studied repeatedly after Hilgendorf's (1867) initial work. He had all different morphs that appeared during the long lasting lake history related to a single founder species that developed into several lineages, one of which was designated as 'main-branch' with large conspicuous morphs. Most subsequent studies are concerned with that branch. Based on new material and aided by SEM studies of the protoconchs, the small side-branch morphs have been restudied and evolutionary lineages are reconstructed. As a result the phylogenetic lineages of planorbids from lake Steinheim can be considered to have evolved from a single...

[Proceedings of the symposium 'Molluscan Palaeontology' : 11th International Malacological Congress, Siena (Italy) 30th August - 5th September 1992 / A.W. Janssen and R. Janssen (editors)]: Caenogastropoda during Mesozoic times Naturalis
Bandel, K..
The following groups of Mesozoic Caenogastropoda are discussed here: Cerithioidea and Littorinoidea-Rissooidea seemingly merging with each other during Triassic times; the fresh water and land snails of the Viviparoidea and Cyclophoroidea with unknown marine relatives but a Mesozoic history; the Vermetoidea, Turritelloidea and Campaniloidea with a late appearance in the Mesozoic; the Ctenoglossa with a continuous history from the Middle Palaeozoic to modern times; the Subulitoidea, Murchisonioidea and Loxonematoidea with Palaeozoic ancestors but unclear Middle Mesozoic relations; the Purpurinoidea as potential ancestors and relatives of the Stromboidea, the latter suddenly appearing in the Jurassic; the Heteropoda and Vanikoroidea with possible relation to...

Mathildoidea (Gastropoda, Heterostropha) from the Late Triassic St Cassian Formation Naturalis
Bandel, K..
In the St Cassian fauna of Late Triassic (Early Carnian) age gastropods with protoconch coiled in opposite direction to the teleoconch are common and belong to a number of quite different taxa. Twenty nine of these are here described, 11 of them for the first time: Promathilda misurinensis sp. nov., Turrithilda cassiana sp. nov., T. dockeryi sp. nov., Tirolthilda seelandica gen. et sp. nov., T. nuetzeli sp. nov., Tofanella cancellata sp. nov., Cristalloella cassiana gen. et sp. nov., C. sinuata sp. nov., C. delicata sp. nov., Stuorilda cassiana gen. et sp. nov., and S. tichyi sp. nov. All are newly defined and placed in the Mathildoidea. This connects the Triassic species of that superfamily with the modern Heterostropha (= Heterobranchia). In the family...

Die Gelege karibischer Vertreter aus den Uberfamilien Strombacea, Naticacea und Tonnacea (Mesogastropoda) sowie Beobachtungen im Meer und Aquarium OceanDocs
Bandel, K..
