BIOLOGICAL RESPONSEVINESS OF BEANS UNDER DIFFERENT SOIL WATER REGIMES AT PROTECTED ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS IN SOUTHERN BRAZIL CIGR Journal
Domingues, Rafael; Pereira, André Belmont; Schiebelbein, Luis Miguel; Rosa, Jadir Aparecido; Barbosa, Eduardo Augusto Agnellos; Pires, Luiz Fernando.
Climatic conditions and soil water requirement notably impinge upon agriculture in such a way as to galvanize scientists to come up with advanced research in order to assure a more sustainable production at a given site. Under protected environmental conditions water is the main factor to be controlled aiming at maximization of yield and grade of agricultural products. The productive potential of a crop is extremely conditioned by the local atmospheric conditions along with requirements for water and nutrients in the soil. The aim of the current work was to scrutinize the effect of soil water status on the ecophysiological parameters and yield components of two cultivars of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under tropical climatic conditions. The experiment...

Selecting key traits to indicrectly assess common bean growth under water stress CIGR Journal
Fogaça, Alisson Marcos; Barbosa, Eduardo Augusto Agnellos.
Recognize water stress constraints on common bean growth may help to select tolerant genotypes, manage irrigation based on plant necessity and predict losses. This manuscript aims to select key traits that discriminate magnitudes of water stress on common bean and indicates plant growth constrains. To do so, an experiment was set in a greenhouse with two factors: crop evapotranspiration replenishment and cultivars. First factor was comprised of 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150% of crop evapotranspiration replenishment starting at flowering (32 days after germination). The second factor was composed of the cultivars BRS Estilo and IPR Campos Gerais. A randomized block scheme with five replications was used, totalizing 60 experimental units. On the 55th day...

Root growth of sugarcane irrigated with wastewater through subsurface drip system CIGR Journal
Santos, Leonardo Nazário Silva dos; Barbosa, Eduardo Augusto Agnellos; Nazário, Aline Azevedo; Gonçalves, Ivo Zution; Ohashi, Augusto Yukitaka Pessinatti; Matsura, Edson Eiji; Pires, Regina Célia de Matos.
The use of wastewater in agriculture is an alternative to provide water and nutrients for plants.  However, root system development can be affected by water quality and depth of wastewater applied.  The objective of this study was to evaluate the sugarcane root system growth using a minirhizotron in a field irrigated with treated sewage effluent and freshwater by subsurface drip irrigation.  The treatments tested were two drip line installation depths (0.2 and 0.4 m); two water sources (treated sewage effluent and freshwater) and non-irrigated plots as control.  The experiment was a randomized block design with a 2×2 + 1 factorial, with three replications.  The root system evaluation (root length and spatial distribution) was performed using a...

Beans cultivation and water regime on soil physical attributes CIGR Journal
Domingues, Rafael; Pereira, André Belmont; Pires, Luiz Fernando; Schiebelbein, Luis Miguel; Barbosa, Eduardo Augusto Agnellos; Auler, André Carlos.
Beans crop is an agricultural staple largely consumed in Brazil because it is part of the basic food of the population. Such a crop is usually grown by small growers and turns out to be of a great social and economical importance. The aim of the current manuscript was to scrutinize the effect of soil water status on its physical attributes, such as bulk density, total porosity, macroporosity, microporosity, hydraulic conductivity under protected environment conditions on beans crop (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The effect of the soil physical attributes on the biological response of the plants was also investigated. The experiment was installed in March of 2016 in a greenhouse. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial scheme with four...
