| Arnoglossus laterna is only infested by intestinal parasites. Each parasite distribution is independent of the distribution of other parasites and also independent of the sex of host. When a fish is infested by a great number of the two helminths Acanthocephaloides and Bothriocephalus clavibothrium , the proportion of lymphocytes tends to decrease and the proportion of neutrophils tends to increase (inflammatory response). Important infestation by Scolex pleuronectis induces an increase of the thrombocyte count for 100 counted leucocytes. After infestation by the nematode Thynnascaris sp. alone or with another parasite, even by small number, the proportion of lymphocytes decreases and the proportion of neutrophils increases. |
