I det økologiske forskningsprojekt, HighCrop, under GUDP - går økologiske planteavlere, konsulenter og forskere sammen om at finde ud af, hvordan planteavlen på de økologiske planteavlsbedrifter kan udvikles til at være mere robuste og bæredygtige. Et af indsatsområderne er, via interviewbesøg med 10 økologiske planteavlere, at afdække, hvordan den faglige viden når ud til landmændene og hvilke rådgivningstiltag og redskaber der bedst muligt kan understøtte denne videndeling. The biggest challenge for achieving higher and more stable yields in organic plant breeding is linked to adequate nitrogen supply and the management of aggressive weeds. The RowCrop project has developed a row cultivation system with cereals and catch crops that enable weed control in rows of both crops. The cultivation system is composed of three elements: 1. Weed control in the rows of grain sown at 25 cm row spacing 2. Establishment of nitrogen fixing crops in between the rows at the last weed control 3. Weed control in the crop rows after harvest, in order to control perennial weeds. Row cultivation in cereals with nitrogen-fixing crops can improve nitrogen supply in the crop rotation, while reducing nitrogen leaching. Well-established and competitive catch crops are important, they can both supply a significant amount of nitrogen to the subsequent crops and compete against the weeds. There needs to be a balance between main and catch crops – competitive main crops require early establishment of the catch crop and/or larger row distance. In a less competitive main crop, row distance can be narrower and the catch crops should be sown later. Early harvest is important to get a competitive catch crop. Well established catch crops can increase the yield of the succeeding crop, corresponding to up to 50 kg nitrogen per hectare. Well... |

The Lifelong Learning Program (Leonardo, action type: mobility) funded our project “European Agricultural Training – renewing skills for experienced organic advisors” (see www.ch-go-est.eu), 2013-2015. The goal of this European partnership project was to facilitate networking and exchange of ideas, experiences, and methods between experienced organic multiplicators (advisors, teachers in agricultural training, researchers etc.). The group had members from several northern and mid-European countries and the focus was on-farm protein management from cultivation to feeding. Control of Common Couch-grass often conflicts with the need to retain nutrients in organic cropping systems, as it involves intensive tillage in the post-harvest period. Thus, preferably the soil should be cropped through the entire year to prevent nutrient leaching from the root zone. Research has shown that new control strategies may combine the reduction of couch infestations and a soil cover with plants during the post-harvest period. This may have potential for practical implementation. |

Som et led i projektet RowCrop har SEGES Økologi Innovation udført efterafgrødeforsøg, for at undersøge hvilke efterafgrøder, der er egnede til dette dyrkningssystem. Forskellige efterafgrøder er her udlagt efter henholdsvis en, to eller tre radrensninger. Forsøgene viste, at rødkløver er velegnet som efterafgrøde i rækkedyrkningssystemet, da den har god jorddækning i oktober, hvad enten den sås efter 1., 2., eller 3. radrensning. Samtidig giver den ikke udbyttetab eller høstbesvær i hovedafgrøden og har en god genvækst efter høst. Hør Inger Bertelsen, SEGES Økologi Innovation, fortælle om efterafgrødeforsøget. |
