SOME PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE AgEcon

Slovak Republic was among ten new members joining European Union in May 2004. Since then the EU accession has influenced the social and economic aspects of life in the country and still continues to do so. The main purpose of this article is to present several problem areas of socio-economic development of Slovak agriculture. In details, we will focus to the position of agriculture in the National economy, development trends of Slovak Agriculture and transformation process, entrepreneurial structure and use of land, economic situation in Agriculture and the development of selected socio-economic indicators in agriculture. Finally, we will mention about the present situation and priorities of the Slovak Agricultural Policy.

Internationalisation and international linkages between producers, marketing partners and customers in various geographical areas has become an everyday reality for contemporary firms. The core area of this paper includes the process of internationalization of the small and medium enterprises and the role of the trends at the food market, particularly those which may be a potential stimulator for the internationalisation process and the most efficient way to segment markets. The study represents a qualitative process- based research. The strategy of the study is descriptive and explorative. The Technical Efficiency Analysis – Case of Agricultural Basic Industry in Slovakia AgEcon

The agricultural companies are operating in the environment with high level of competition and therefore it is for them important to retain respectively to improve their market position to reach higher measure of production process efficiency. As the principal measurement of the production performance was applied technical efficiency which is the assumption to reach the total economical efficiency of company. According to the results we can state that the technical efficiency measure has during analysed period declining trend. Estimating Demand Elasticities of Meat Demand in Slovakia AgEcon

This article focuses on assessing consumer beliefs, attitude and behaviour towards meat. The aim is to obtain estimates of price and income elasticity of meat demand in Slovakia. This report analyses pork, poultry and beef meat consumption in Slovakia according to the individual households’ social categories. The Household Budget Survey of the Slovak Statistical Office was used for period 1993-2007. The data consists of yearly observations of beef, pork and poultry consumption, average annual consumer prices of beef, pork and poultry meat and net income per capita.
