On a new genus of the Dematiaceae Naturalis
Boedijn, K.B..
The group of the Dematiaceae is well represented in the Netherlands Indies. Species belonging to genera of a wide distribution, are equally found predominating in temperate regions. Only a rather small number of our dematiaceous fungi seem to be restricted to tropical countries. The species to be discussed in this paper is one of them and as far as I can judge is not only undescribed, but even the type of a new form-genus.

On a new family of the Sphaeriales Naturalis
Boedijn, K.B..
Renewed study of the type material of species formerly described under Xylaria necessitates the recognition of a new family, for which the name Sarcostromellaceae Boedijn is proposed. This family comprises two new genera, Sarcostromella Boedijn and Pseudoxylaria Boedijn. Sarcostromella polysticha (Penz. & Sacc.) Boedijn and Pseudoxylaria nigripes (Kl.) Boedijn are new combinations, S. amorpha Boedijn is a new species. Xylaria xanthophaea Penz. & Sacc. appears identical with S. polysticha. Xylaria torrubioides Penz. & Sacc. is a synonym of Pseudoxylaria nigripes.

On Xylaria spathulata Berk. & Br Naturalis
Boedijn, K.B..
In the Malayan region an interesting ascomycete occurs, which in general appearance resembles a species of Xylaria. It was described from Java by Penzig & Saccardo as Xylaria polysticha (3) and again some years later as Xylaria xanthophaea (4). This may be explained by the fact, that the first name was given to old, discoloured material, whereas the second name refers to fresh well developed specimens exhibiting the typical brown colour. During my long stay in Indonesia I had ample opportunity to collect and study this species, which grows especially in the mountainous regions. One of the most striking characters is the consistency of the stromata, which are conspicuously fleshy and not hard as in Xylaria. Penzig & Saccardo in describing the fungus...

A brief review of the Meliolales is given, mainly based on Indonesian material. It is concluded that the order should be retained in the Loculoascomycetes, where it is closely related to the Microthyriales. The genus Neoballadyna (Englerulaceae) and the species Balladyna pavettae are described as new, Neoballadyna butleri is proposed as a new combination.

Review Naturalis
Boedijn, K.B..
The appearance of a monograph is always of great interest to the mycologist, as it gives him a survey of all the species of the group dealt with as well as various important data. Information on too many taxa is till scattered throughout the literature or they are lying undescribed in the herbaria and collections all over the world. The present monograph deals with the genera Monochaetia and Pestalotia, as mentioned in the title. After a short introduction, in which it is stated that the author spent nearly forty years on the compilation of this volume, there follows a chapter devoted to nomenclatural questions. It appears that Monochaetia (Sacc.) Allescher 1902 is not the oldest name since Seiridium Nees 1831 has priority. Therefore, Guba wants to...
