| Pneumonia is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in foals. Although many different organisms have been associated with pneumonia in foals, Rhodococcus equi is considered to be one of the most important problems for horse-breeding farms worldwide. This review article discusses general etiopathology, epidemiology and immunology principles. Specific recommendations are presented for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of R. equi - induced pneumonia. |
