| In December, 1926, the General Oyster Culture Union wrote to the Minister of civil engineering in order to have him ask the Fisheries Office to carry out some studies on the causes of the disappearance of spats on the collectors, in the Morbihan region. As the losses had been attributed, at least for a large part, to a defectiveness of the limestone coating covering the tiles, this request drove us to undertake a deeper study on the liming of the collectors. This study was based on the observations from a number of expeditions in the Morbihan area as well as on different experiments carried out in the Office laboratory in Paris. |
