This study was carried out in the continuous irrigated rice cropping system during 2011-2013 by 8 rice research centers and Bureau of Rice Research and Development. Disease assessments were also conducted in the farmers’ fields in 16 provinces responsible by participating offices in the Upper and Lower North, Central, East and South of Thailand. The main objective was to investigate the relationship between meteorological data and disease epidemics through field survey and carried out experiment on continuous rice cultivation by sowing popular rice variety every month. Three significant rice pathogens i.e. Blast, Bacterial leaf blight and Ragged stunt were collected for diversification study. Results revealed that there were disease epidemics in 19...

Climate change may affect rice-growing environments and disease epidemics. Therefore, the experiment was conducted at Prathum Thani Rice Research Center during 2011 – 2012 Effect of Climate change on the outbreak of rice diseases. The objective was to study two rice varieties, RD31 and PSL2 were planted every month throughout the year. Random survey for disease incidence was done in the rice plot, and meterogical data such as temperature, relative humidity and rainfall collected from the meterological station. Base on meterological data, the average annual temperature increased in the year 2012, but the average rainfall and humidity decreased. Disease found in 2011 were rice blast, brown spot, bacterial leaf streak and red stripe disease. Disease found in...

Climate change may affect rice-growing environments and disease epidemics. Therefore, the experiment was conducted at Pathumthani Rice Research Center during 2011–2013 to study the effect of climate change on rice diseases occurrence. Two rice varieties, RD31 and PSL 2 were planted every month throughout the year. Disease incidence was randomly surveyed on the rice plot at least once a month, and the metrological data including temperature, relative humidity and rainfall were collected. Base on 3 years of metrological data, the average annual temperature and relative humidity were increased while the total rainfall was decreased. Rainy day was approximately 6 month from May to October. The disease found every year in both varieties was bacterial leaf...

Brown planthopper resistant promising line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3-2, is photoperiod insensitive line derived from single cross of SPR1/IR64 made at Suphan Buri Rice Research Center in 1994. Its F2-F6 progenies had been grown and selected at Pathum Thani Rice Research Center where fixed line, SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3, were obtained. In 2008, this line and other breeding lines were tested for brown planthopper (BPH) resistance and intra-station yield trial. SPR94007-PTT-27-2-9-3 was not selected to be tested in further step due to its unsatisfied yield, but it was only 1 of 2 lines that had no damage of BPH in greenhouse testing. Thus, remained seedlings of those 2 lines had been transplanted in pots and separately harvested panicle by panicle and pedigree...

Brown planthopper resistant promising line, BKN04004-1-1-1-1 is non-photoperiod sensitive line derived from conventional breeding. BKN04004-1-1-1-1 was made by between female line "IR77924-12-38-1-1" and male line "IR72158-68" in 2004. F2 to F5 were grown and selected during 2005-2006 at Bang Khen Rice Experiment Station. Ongoing observation and yield trials were done at Chachoengsao Rice Research center during 2007-2013. The line was tested for brown planthopper (BPH) resistance at Pathumthani Rice Research Center and found the reaction level of MR. BKN04004-1-1-1-1 gave average yield of 712.8 kg/rai greater than those of RD23 and Suphanburi 60 that gave 588 and 617.4 kg/rai, equal to 17.51% and 11.98% higher respectively. It had 117 days maturity on...
