Therapeutic effects of compound hypertonic saline on rats with sepsis BJID
Dong,Fang; Chen,Wei; Xu,Liang; Wang,Huabing; Lu,Huizhi.
Sepsis is one of the major causes of death and is the biggest obstacle preventing improvement of the success rate in curing critical illnesses. Currently, isotonic solutions are used in fluid resuscitation technique. Several studies have shown that hypertonic saline applied in hemorrhagic shock can rapidly increase the plasma osmotic pressure, facilitate the rapid return of interstitial fluid into the blood vessels, and restore the effective circulating blood volume. Here, we established a rat model of sepsis by using the cecal ligation and puncture approach. We found that intravenous injection of hypertonic saline dextran (7.5% NaCl/6% dextran) after cecal ligation and puncture can improve circulatory failure at the onset of sepsis. We found that the...

Downregulation of lncRNA CCDC26 contributes to imatinib resistance in human gastrointestinal stromal tumors through IGF-1R upregulation BJMBR
Yan,Jingyi; Chen,Didi; Chen,Xiaolei; Sun,Xuecheng; Dong,Qiantong; Hu,Changyuan; Zhou,Feng; Chen,Wei.
Imatinib is the first line of therapy for patients with metastatic or gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). However, drug resistance limits the long-term effect of imatinib. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as key players in regulating drug resistance in cancer. In this study, we investigated the association between lncRNA CCDC26 and IGF-1R in GIST and their involvement in drug resistance. Considering the key role of lncRNAs in drug resistance in cancer, we hypothesized that IGF-1R is regulated by lncRNAs. The expression of a series of reported drug resistance-related lncRNAs, including CCDC26, ARF, H19, NBR2, NEAT1, and HOTAIR, in GIST cells treated with imatinib H19 was examined at various time-points by qRT-PCR. Based on our results and...

Impact of enhanced recovery after surgery on postoperative rehabilitation, inflammation, and immunity in gastric carcinoma patients: a randomized clinical trial BJMBR
Wang,Wu-Ke; Tu,Chao-Yong; Shao,Chu-Xiao; Chen,Wei; Zhou,Qing-Yun; Zhu,Jing-De; Xu,Hong-Tao.
We determined the effects of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in patients undergoing radical surgery for gastric carcinoma. Sixty patients undergoing radical gastrectomy for gastric carcinoma in Lishui Hospital between March and October 2016 were randomized to receive either ERAS (30 patients) or conventional care (30 patients, controls). Clinical, economic, and laboratory indices were analyzed. ERAS patients showed faster recovery and shorter postoperative hospital stays than the controls (P<0.05). Some clinical indices (i.e., time to first flatus and defecation, time to removal of drainage tubes, time to resumption of oral feeding, time to postoperative mobilization, and postoperative complications) were significantly better in ERAS patients...

Effect of nitrogen, carbon sources and agitation speed on acetoin production of Bacillus subtilis SF4-3 Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Tian,Yanjun; Fan,Yixiao; Liu,Jianjun; Zhao,Xiangying; Chen,Wei.
Background: Currently, microbial fermentation method has become the research hotspot for acetoin production. In our previous work, an acetoin-producing strain, Bacillus subtilis SF4-3, was isolated from Japanese traditional fermented food natto. However, its conversion of glucose to acetoin was relatively low. In order to achieve a high-efficient accumulation of acetoin in B. subtilis SF4-3, main medium components and fermentation conditions were evaluated in this work. Results: The by-products analysis showed that there existed reversible transformation between acetoin and 2,3-butanediol that was strictly responsible for acetoin production in B. subtilis SF4-3. The carbon sources, nitrogen sources and agitation speed were determined to play crucial role...
