ABSTRACT We tested whether interindividual variations in diet composition within a population of Deuterodon stigmaturus can be explained by morphological differences between individuals, and whether diet-morphology relationships are dependent on the ontogenetic development. We analyzed diet of 75 specimens sampled in a coastal stream of Southern Brazil. Variation in stomach content was summarized with a Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). The retained PCoA axes were tested as response to standard length (SL), and to values of intestine length (IL) and mouth length (ML) independent of body size, using linear mixed-effects models (LMM). Over 70% of threatened birds in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, south Brazil, inhabit forest environments. The creation and maintenance of protected areas is one of the most important measures aiming to mitigate these problems. However, the knowledge of the local biodiversity is essential so that these areas can effectively preserve the natural resources. Between 2004 and 2009 we sampled the avifauna in two conservation units in Rio Grande do Sul: Floresta Nacional de Canela (FNC) and Parque Natural Municipal da Ronda (PMR), both representative of the Mixed Humid Forest (Araucaria Forest). A total of 224 species was recorded, 116 at FNC and 201 at PMR, ten of which threatened regionally: Pseudastur polionotus, Odontophorus capueira, Patagioenas... Neste trabalho são apresentados dados referentes a um inventário da fauna de peixes da Floresta Nacional de Canela, uma Unidade de Conservação Federal localizada no trecho superior da bacia hidrográfica do Rio Caí, em elevadas altitudes da Serra Geral do Rio Grande do Sul. Foram amostrados nove pontos de coleta em diversos ambientes aquáticos, incluindo um banhado, açudes e arroios, situados tanto no interior quanto no entorno da unidade. Para a captura dos exemplares utilizou-se puçá, picaré, linhas de pesca, redes de emalhar e armadilhas do tipo covo. Ao total, foram encontradas 20 espécies pertencentes a 10 famílias e 6 ordens. Hyphessobrycon luetkenii teve distribuição mais ampla, ocorrendo em quase todos os pontos amostrados, enquanto Callichthys...
