Catch records of flatfishes obtained in exploratory cruises and in the existing literature in the geographical area between 34°S and 55°S in the Western SOuth Atlantic were analyzed to elaborate maps of the distribution of the most common flatfish species in this area. Data from commercial fleet landings at Mar del Plata Harbor were used to analyze the distribution and areas of resource concentration. The flatfish most frequently found in this study area belong to three families: 1. Paralichthidae, with the species: Thysanopsetta naresi, Paralichthys orbignyanus, Paralichthys patagonicus, Paralichthys isoceles, Xystreurys rasile. 2.-Pleuronectidae, with the species: Oncopterus darwini. 3. Achiropsettidae with: Mancopsetta maculata, Mancopsetta milfordi,... |
