Based upon material collected in Madagascar, Enewetak Atoll, New Caledonia, and the Moluccas, seventeen new species of Xarifia and one new species of a new xarifiid genus (Lipochrus) are described from various species of Acropora, Montipora, Alveopora, Cyphastrea, and Echinopora. Several previously known species of Xarifia are redescribed in part and new hosts and geographical records are listed. A key to the three genera of the Xarifiidae is provided, as well as tabular differentiation of the 39 species of Xarifia. The external morphology of Xarifia is discussed. |

A new species of siphonostomatoid copepod, Dissonus pastinum, is described from the horn shark, Heterodontus japonicus (Dumeril), from Awa, Japan. The new species differs from all congeners except D. ruvetti Nunes-Ruivo & Fourmanoir, 1956 and D. nudiventris Kabata, 1965 by the presence of the sternal furca and absence of spines on the genital complex. However, the new species can be distinguished from D. ruvetti by having a 1-segmented abdomen and from D. nudiventris by the absence of a large accessory spine on the second antennal claw. |

Ammothella killix n. sp. is described from upper bathyal depths on the Cortez Ridge; it is the tenth in the genus from the eastern Pacific, and sixth from California. It differs from its congeners most noticeably in having chelifore fusion, and in bearing slender spiny tubercles on all of the following parts: the chelifore scapes, ocular tubercle, abdomen, lateral processes, first coxae, mid-dorsal surface, and anterior cephalic corners. A key to the species of adult Ammothella from California waters is included. |
