Dufour, Rex. |
In this webinar Rex Dufour, National Center for Appropriate Technology, discusses basic principles and practices for managing pests, focusing on the role of healthy soils in controlling pests, the importance of biodiversity and habitats for beneficial insects. Pest management in organic production systems is reliant on many factors – “small hammers” - working together. This is accomplished by supporting the system’s ecology, both above and below ground. The webinar is targeted both to newcomers and experienced organic farmers. Webinar contents are based on experiences made in the United States but concepts and hints can be applied in other countries. |

Ecological Pest Management Database for Biorationals is a simple and fast research engine. If a meaningful or alternative biorational is needed, a farmer can use the database by selecting Pest Type, Pest Name, Active Ingredient or Beneficial Organism or Pesticide Trade Name. As result, biorationals are listed alphabetically by trade name, indicating the active ingredient, supplier and product information. By clicking on the trade name in the result list, more detailed information is given on the beneficial organisms and controlled pests besides the label summary and manufacturer in the US. The active ingredient in the result list can be also checked to get a short description of its use. |
