So far, only three species are known in the laophontid genus Loureirophonte Jakobi. In the present contribution five new species are described, and two species formerly attributed to other laophontid genera (Paraiaophonte subterranea Lang and Laophonte cesareae Por), are allocated to Loureirophonte. A redescription of L. cesareae, based on type-material, is included. Relying on the increased understanding of loureirophontid morphology, the diagnoses of L. catharinensis, type-species of the genus, and L. paranaensis are amended. Finally, three species-groups are defined within the genus: the catharinensisgroup, the cesareae-group and the subterranea-group. |

The taxonomic composition, abundance and spatio-temporal distribution of copepods were analysed from monthly zooplankton samples collected in Makupa creek and Mombasa Harbour (Makupa creek was until recently subjected to considerable dumping of domestic and industrial waste). At least 51 copepod species belonging to 38 genera in the families Calanoida (25), Harpacticoida (5), Poecilostomatoida (7) and Cyclopoida (1) were identified. The most common genera were Acartia, Acrocalanus, Corycaeus, Oncaea and Oithona. Copepods bloomed in the wet months of November and April (75 to 158/m3). Abundance was consistently high near the creek mouth and low within the creek enclosure. Copepod diversity (H’) was slightly higher (2.00 to 2.57) during September, November,... |

The genus Laophontina is revised after re-examination of the typeseries of the species and analyses of new materials from the East African coast and the Caribbean. The genus Laophontina as redefined herein unifies L. dubia, L. acantha, L. noodti, and L. posidoniae. The recently described L. paradubia is considered as conspecific with L. dubia. All other species presently assembled in the genus are allocated to different genera. Galapalaophonte is redefined and comprises G. pacifica, G. triarticulata and G. variabilis besides four new species. Laophontina distincta and... |

Representatives of the family Tetragonicipitidae encountered in samples from marine and lagoonal localities on the Yucatecan continental shelf are described. Ph. yucatanensis n. sp. is added to the furciger species-group of the genus Phyllopodopsyllus. Resulting from the discovery of four new species which, at first sight, show close resemblance with the species known in the genus Diagoniceps Willey, a review of the genus is presented. Initially, the type-species of the genus Diagoniceps, D. laevis Willey, is redescribed in detail based on material from the Bahamas and specimens reported previously from Bermuda, type-region. Three out of the six previously... |

In the paper at hand, eight copepods are described from two small temporary brackish water pools at Laing Island (Papua New Guinea). Included are one cyclopoid: Neocyclops papuensis n. sp. and seven harpacticoids: Darcythompsonia inopinata Smirnov, Leptocaris mucronatus n. sp.; Schizopera brusinae Petkovski, Nitocra lacrustris pacifica Yeatman, Nitocra laingensis n. sp., Phyllopodopsyllus alatus n. sp. and Actinocletodes woutersi n. gen., n. sp. |

Seven harpacticoid copepods have been found living on the lower parts of Spartina alterniflora culms, from Cocodrie marshes in Louisiana (U.S.A.). This contribution deals exclusively with the systematics of these species. Mesochra wolskii Jakubisiak is redescribed and a new key to the species of the genus is given. M. neotropica Jakobi is allocated to the genus Amphibiperita n. gen. and is redescribed and discussed in detail. A new laophontid species, F. mangalis n. sp. is described and placed together with Laophonte chathamensis Sars in the genus Folioquinpesn. gen. Some amendations on the description of Schizopera... |

Brianola vangoethemi sp.nov., Scottolana glabra sp.nov., Scottolana dissimilis sp.nov., Canuella paenelantica sp.nov. and Parasunaristes cucullaris gen.nov., from the Northern coast of Papua New Guinea, are described. Brianola sydneyensis Hamond, 1973 and Ellucana longicaudaSewell, 1940 were recorded for the first time in the coastal waters of Papua New Guinea. E. longicauda is redescribed and the generic characteristics are discussed. |
