More than 8060 fishes of twelve different species were rodcaught in La Tremblade between 1949 and 1964 in Seudre Estuary and along the Côte Sauvage beach. The meagre represents 46 % of catches, the mullets 20 % and the spotted bass 15 %. The most common fishes caught early in spring are the bass, then the flounder and the spotted bass. The eagle ray, the eel, the sand-smelt, the conger and the mullets are more abundant in July. Whereas the gilt-head and the meagre are mostly caught in August. At least 62 % of catches have affinities for warm temperate waters. There are somme connections between the abundance of catches and climatic changes. NOT CONTROLLED OCR |
