Procamacolaimus tubifer Gerlach, 1953, Procamacolaimus africanus sp. nov. and Eontolaimus capensis gen.nov., sp.nov. (Nematoda, Leptolaimidae) from Southern Africa OMA
Furstenberg, J.P.; Vincx, M..
A female and three males of Procamacolaimus tubifer Gerlach, 1953 are described and illustrated from Cape Receife Beach, Port Elizabeth. <i<P. africanus sp.nov. is also described from Cape Receife Beach. It is compared with P. tubifer which it resembles but from which it can be differentiated by length of the buccal cavity, amphid size and the shape of the spicules. Eontolaimus capensis gen.nov., sp.nov. is described, also from the same sandy beach. This new genus is related to Deontolaimus papillatus de Man, 1880 from which it can be distinguished, among other things, by the absence of a tooth-like structure in the buccal cavity and the presence of pre-anal tubuli.

Three new Chromadoropsis species (Nematoda, Desmodoridae) from Southern Africa and the North Sea OMA
Furstenberg, J.P.; Vincx, M..
Three new Chromadoropsis species with four pharyngeal bulbi are descriptionbed from Southern Africa, Namibia (S.W.A.) and the North Sea. C. granulosus sp.nov. is described from a sandy beach near Port Elizabeth. This species is characterized by a very distinct layer of yellow granules just below the cuticle. C. namibiensis sp.nov. is described from a sandy beach at Langstrand, Namibia. This species can be distinguished by the length and shape of the gubernaculum and spicules as well as the size of the capitulum. C. longispiculosa sp.nov. is described from the North Sea and is characterized by the long spicules and the presence of numerous porids. The genus...

Namibnema papillata gen. et sp. n. and Axonolaimus deconincki sp. n. (Nematoda, Axonolaimoidea) from marine and estuarine beaches of southern Africa OMA
Vincx, M.; Furstenberg, J.P..
Namibnema papillata gen. et sp.n. is closely related to Nicascolaimus punctatus Riemann, 1986. The presence of twelve stomatal rugae, the punctated cuticle and the shape of the pre-anal supplements indicate a relationship with species of the Chromadorina. Axonolaimus deconincki sp.n. is characterized by the complex nature of the gubernaculum.

Five new species of the family Ceramonematidae (Nematoda: order Chromadorida) from South Africa OMA
Furstenberg, J.P.; Vincx, M..
Three new Ceramonema species, one new Dasynemoides species and one new Pterygonema species are described from South Africa. Ceramonema algoensis sp. nov. is characterised by more than 300 annules and the elongated cephalic capsule with an elevated lip region; C. africana sp. nov. by an elongated cloacal annule and a long cephalic capsule; and C. kromensis sp. nov. by the absence of vascuolisation and a relatively short cephalic capsule. Dasynemoides tenuis sp. nov. can be distinguished from all other known species of the genus by its slender body (a=118) and the large number of body annules (690). Pterygonema papenkuili sp. nov. is characterised by the shape of the spicules, which have a spine-like structure, and a large and rectangular gubernaculum.

Nematodes as indicators pollution: a case study from the Swartkops River system, South Africa OMA
Gyedu-Ababio, T.; Furstenberg, J.P.; Baird, D.J.; Vanreusel, A..
Nematodes from the sediments of the Swartkops estuary in Port Elizabeth, South Africa were investigated at 10 selected sites along a salinity gradient in the subtidal region at neap tide. The relation between nematode density, genera, community structure and environmental parameters including concentrations of seven heavy metals, Mn, Ti, Cr, Pb, Fe, Sn and Zn in the sediment were investigated. The nematode community structure was significantly influenced by the chlorophyll a concentration and sediment particle-size distribution. The number of genera had significant negative correlation with chlorophyll a and two heavy metals, Fe and Zn in the sediment. The habitat preferences of the genera were also assessed. A combination of the Shannon-Wiener Diversity...
