Les Agapetus du Maroc — description de deux espèces nouvelles (Trichoptera, Glossosomatidae) Naturalis
Giudicelli, Jean; Dakki, Mohamed.
Three species of Agapetus have been collected in the Middle and in the High Atlas (Morocco): A. fuscus Vaillant, 1954, previously known from Algeria, and two new species. Agapetus dolichopterus n. sp. is a small species; it shows the most pronounced reduction in wing venation among the Agapetus species. Agapetus berbericus n. sp. is closely related to A. numidicus Vaillant, 1954, and probably also to A. incertulus Mac- Lachlan, 1884. Larvae of A. dolichopterus and of A. fuscus were collected in fairly cold waters; those of A. dolichopterus were only found in springs. The immature stages of A. berbericus live in warmer waters, between 18 and 25.5° C.

Les sources du Moyen Atlas et de Rif (Maroc): Faunistique (description de deux espèces nouvelles de Trichoptères), écologie, intérêt biogéographique Naturalis
Giudicelli, Jean; Dakki, Mohamed.
Seven springs in the Middle Atlas and five in the Rif have been studied. These show a great diversity of crenal habitats: water temperature ranges from 8.7° to 21°C, and the flow from 1 l/s to 1,800 l/s. Based on hydrologic and thermic characteristics, a spring typology is provided. The invertebrate community consists of 60 species, among which 4, found in the Rif, are new to science: Protonemura sp. (Plecoptera), Obuchovia sp. (Diptera, Simuliidae), Rhyacophila fonticola n. sp., and Philopotamus ketama n. sp. (Trichoptera). The new Trichoptera are both described. Two rare endemic species (the planarian Acromyadenium maroccanum and the coleopteran Elmis atlantis) have been found in a cold-water spring in the Middle Atlas; two black-fly species ( Cnetha...

About a peculiar type of rheocrene spring in the High Atlas (Morocco). Description of a simuliid characteristic of this habitat, Simulium (Crenosimulium n. sg.) Knidirii n. sp. (Diptera, Simuliidae) Naturalis
Giudicelli, Jean; Thiery, Alain.
In the High Atlas we have studied a peculiar type of spring representing an environment close to the madicolous habitats. The main ecological characteristics of this habitat and of its community are given. Immature stages of a previously unknown simuliid fly are abundant. The species, Simulium knidirii n.sp., is described; it is closely related to Simulium lamachei Doby & David known from a few localities in southern France and in northern Morocco (Rif). The pupae of these two species differ from those of all palearctic Simuliidae mainly by their two-branched tube-like gills. Study of all stages has convinced us that both S. lamachei and S. knidirii represent a new subgenus, which we named Crenosimulium. The subgenus is limited in its distribution to a...

Étude hydrobiologique d’und rivière de région méditerranéenne, l’Argens (Var, France). Habtats, hydrochimie, distribution de la faune benthique Naturalis
Giudicelli, Jean; Dia, Aref; Legier, Pierre.
This is the first almost complete hydrobiological monograph of a water-course in a low altitude Mediterranean coastal drainage basin. Through knowledge of the hydrological and physicochemical peculiarities as well as an analysis of the biocoenoses, an ecological zonation of the river is established. The Argens is only 114 km long; it rises from a large karstic spring at an altitude of 270 m. By all its general features (topography, hydrology, geology, climate) it represents a good example of a Mediterranean river. Eleven stations have been investigated. Fifteen physicochemical parameters and 174 species of organisms have been taken into account. The Argens carries relatively cool waters (summer temperatures seldom exceeding 20 °C) which are well oxygenated...
