| Otiorhynchus apenninus, a new weevil for the Netherlands (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) Otiorhynchus apenninus (= O. salicicola) is reported for the first time from the Netherlands. The species was collected in a garden at Hoofddorp (Noord-Holland), Rijswijk (Zuid-Holland) and in and around a garden at Heemstede (Noord-Holland). The species appeared to be present at the locality at Heemstede for several successive years, despite an attempt to eradicate it. We therefore conclude that O. apenninus must be considered as established in the Netherlands. Some data are presented on the European distribution and host plants of the species. Illustrations of the male and female genitalia are provided. |
