CHLOROPHYLL FLUORESCENCE OF BASIL PLANTS CULTIVATED IN A HYDROPONIC SYSTEM USING TREATED DOMESTIC WASTEWATER REA
Gonçalves,Karoline S.; Alves,Lucylia S.; Paz,Vital P. da S.; Bandeira,Samir de S..
ABSTRACT Different techniques have been used to evaluate the energetic characteristics and damage to the photosynthetic apparatus of plants exposed to different stresses, including the measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence. The objective of this study is to evaluate the photosynthetic response by assessing the fluorescence parameters of chlorophyll a in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) cv. Alfavaca Basilicão cultivated in a hydroponic deep-flow technique system using treated domestic wastewater. The study used a completely randomized block design with a 2 × 2 factorial scheme, in which the factors were the water source used for preparing the nutrient solution (tap water or treated domestic wastewater) and the height (upper and lower) of the platform of the...

Physiological and vegetative behavior of banana cultivars under irrigation water salinity AGRIAMBI
Santana Júnior,Edvaldo B.; Coelho,Eugênio F.; Gonçalves,Karoline S.; Cruz,Jailson L..
ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of salinity levels of irrigation water on physiology and growth of banana cultivars during the vegetative stage. The experiment was carried out following a completely randomized design in split plots, with four levels of salinity in irrigation water (0.5, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 dS m-1) and four banana cultivars (Pacovan, Prata Anã, BRS Platina and Princesa) with three repetitions. Stomatal conductance, transpiration, relative water content, leaf water potential and proline concentration were evaluated at 150 days after transplanting (DAT), besides plant height, stem diameter and leaf area. All variables showed sensitivity to the increase of salinity level of irrigation water. The results of soil water...

Yield of green beans subjected to continuous and pulse drip irrigation with saline water AGRIAMBI
Almeida,Willian F. de; Paz,Vital P. da S.; Jesus,Ana P. C. de; Silva,Jucicléia S. da; Gonçalves,Karoline S.; Oliveira,Andressa S. de.
ABSTRACT In view of the imminent need for efficient water use and the search for adequate management techniques to reduce the effect of salinity on plants, a study was conducted to evaluate the effect of continuous and pulses drip irrigation with saline water on green bean yield and water use efficiency. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in a completely randomized design, with treatments distributed in a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement. The first factor was type of drip irrigation, i.e., continuous or pulse, while the second factor was the levels of water salinity (electrical conductivity of 0.3, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 dS m-1), with five replicates, and two plants per replicate, totaling 50 experimental units. The following variables were analysed:...
