Age-age correlation for early selection of rubber tree genotypes in São Paulo State, Brazil Genet. Mol. Biol.
Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza; Bortoletto,Nelson; Cardinal,Átila Bento Beleti; Gouvêa,Lígia Regina Lima; Costa,Reginaldo Brito da; Moraes,Mário Luiz Teixeira de.
In a field trial involving 68 rubber tree (Hevea spp.) clones calculation of genotypic correlation coefficients revealed significant age-age correlation from age 1 to 6 (immature period) for girth A and for age 7 to 12 (mature period) for girth B and for age 7 to 12 (production of latex) for yield. Rank correlation coefficients between all immature ages of girth (girth A), all ages of mature girth (girth B) and all annual rubber production (yield) were significant for the three traits, with the coefficients decreasing with increasing age. Selection of the sets of best 30, 15, 10 and 5 clones from the available 68 clones at a given age was generally accompanied by a descending order of percentage success. It was suggested: (a) to have the best 30 clones of...

Genetic divergence of rubber tree estimated by multivariate techniques and microsatellite markers Genet. Mol. Biol.
Gouvêa,Lígia Regina Lima; Rubiano,Luciana Benchimol; Chioratto,Alisson Fernando; Zucchi,Maria Imaculada; Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza.
Genetic diversity of 60 Hevea genotypes, consisting of Asiatic, Amazonian, African and IAC clones, and pertaining to the genetic breeding program of the Agronomic Institute (IAC), Brazil, was estimated. Analyses were based on phenotypic multivariate parameters and microsatellites. Five agronomic descriptors were employed in multivariate procedures, such as Standard Euclidian Distance, Tocher clustering and principal component analysis. Genetic variability among the genotypes was estimated with 68 selected polymorphic SSRs, by way of Modified Rogers Genetic Distance and UPGMA clustering. Structure software in a Bayesian approach was used in discriminating among groups. Genetic diversity was estimated through Nei's statistics. The genotypes were clustered...

Genotype-environment interaction and phenotypic stability for girth growth and rubber yield of Hevea clones in São Paulo State, Brazil Genet. Mol. Biol.
Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza; Bortoletto,Nelson; Martins,Antonio Lúcio Mello; Costa,Reginaldo Brito da; Gallo,Paulo Boller.
The best-yielding, best vigour and most stable Hevea clones are identified by growing clones in different environments. However, research on the stability in Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. Adr. ex Juss.) Muell.-Arg. is scarce. The objectives of this work were to assess genotype-environment interaction and determine stable genotypes. Stability analysis were performed on results for girth growth and rubber yield of seven clones from five comparative trials conducted over 10 years (girth growth) and four years (rubber yield) in São Paulo State, Brazil. Stability was estimated using the Eberhart and Russell (1966) method. Year by location and location variability were the dominant sources of interactions. The stability analysis identified GT 1 and IAN 873 as the...

Different methods to assess yield temporal stability in rubber PAB
Gouvêa,Lígia Regina Lima; Silva,Guilherme Augusto Peres; Scaloppi Junior,Erivaldo José; Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza.
The objective of this work was to assess, during six years, the temporal stability of natural rubber yield of 25 superior Hevea brasiliensis genotypes, using the Wricke, Eberhart & Russell, Lin & Binns, additive main effect and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) analysis, and harmonic mean of the relative performance of the genetic values (HMRPGV) methods. The IAC 40 and IAC 300 genotypes were identified as stable and high yielding by the Eberhart & Russell, Lin & Binns, HMRPGV, and AMMI Biplot methods. The ranking of the other more stable genotypes identified by these analyses was altered. The observed results in the AMMI Biplot agreed with those observed in the Wricke method for identifying stable, but lower yielding...

Genetic diversity of cultivated accessions and wild species of rubber tree using EST‑SSR markers PAB
Perseguini,Juliana Morini Küpper Cardoso; Romão,Lineu Roberto de Castro; Briñez,Boris; Scaloppi Junior,Erivaldo José; Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza; Benchimol,Luciana Lasry.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of EST‑SSR markers in the assessment of the genetic diversity of rubber tree genotypes (Hevea brasiliensis) and to verify the transferability of these markers for wild species of Hevea. Forty‑five rubber tree accessions from the Instituto Agronômico (Campinas, SP, Brazil) and six wild species were used. Information provided by modified Roger's genetic distance were used to analyze EST‑SSR data. UPGMA clustering divided the samples into two major groups with high genetic differentiation, while the software Structure distributed the 51 clones into eight groups. A parallel could be established between both clustering analyses. The 30 polymorphic EST‑SSRs showed from two to ten alleles and were...

Phenotypic stability and genetic gains in six-year girth growth of Hevea clones PAB
Gonçalves,Paulo de Souza; Fujihara,Alberto Kazutoshi; Ortolani,Altino Aldo; Bataglia,Ondino Cleante; Bortoletto,Nelson; Segnini Junior,Ivo.
Rubber tree [Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex Adr. de Juss.) Müell. Arg.] budgrafts of seven clones were evaluated on five contrasting sites in the plateau region of the São Paulo State, Brazil. The objective of this work was to study the phenotypic stability for girth growth. The experimental design was a randomized block design with three replications and seven treatments. Analysis of variance of girth at six-year plant growth indicated a highly significant clone x site interaction. Only linear sites and clone x site components of clone x year interaction were significant, indicating that the performance of clones over sites for this trait could be predicted. The clones GT 1 and PB 235 showed the greatest stability in relation to girth growth, with foreseen...
