The main cause of decreased soil fertility and soil organic matter content is intensive crop farming with inadequate management. This study aimed to evaluate soil chemical properties, total organic carbon content, physical granulometric fractions (particulate organic carbon and mineral-associated organic carbon), carbon stocks, and carbon management indices of oxisols in different integrated agricultural production systems (IAPSs) with reference to values in a haymaking area and native forest. The experiments were performed using completely randomized design, considering nine differently managed areas, including seven IAPSs and two reference areas (haymaking area and native forest); four soil samples from the 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, and 0.10-0.20 m layers... |

Phytoremediation is an important technique used in soil and water decontamination, as being used in the removal, containment and reduction of heavy metals and organic compounds. This essay aims to evaluate the efficiency of Crotalaria spectabilis on phytoremediation of soils contaminated by the toxic heavy metals Cd and Pb. The used borderline was completely randomized: five dosages with four repetitions. The treatments utilized were “control”, “prevention level Cd 1.3 mg kg-1”, “intervention level Cd 3.0 mg kg-1”, “prevention level Pb 72 mg kg-1” and “intervention level Pb 180 mg kg-1”. The plants were kept in soil for 90 days, and the quantification of Pb and Cd metal dosage in its dry biomass was made through spectrophotometry of atomic absorption,... |

The element zinc (Zn) is considered an essential micronutrient to plants, being that the addition of this metal in forage cultivation may cause increment in the productivity. In Brazilian soils are frequent the cases of Zn deficiency, being necessary the fertilization of these areas with this micronutrient. However it must be highlighted that some sources of this micronutrient available in the market present in its composition heavy metals. This work aimed to study the effect of different sources and doses of Zn applied in Tifton 85 and the production of dry matter and the levels of Zn, phosphorus (P), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) and chromium (Cr) in leaf tissue and the levels Zn, Cd, Pb and Cr in soil. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using a... |
