Økologiske leverandører i det offentlige indkøb Organic Eprints
Nielsen, Thorkild; Hansen, Mette Weinreich; Kristensen, Niels Heine; Hansen, Stine Rosenlund.

Farmers’ reasons for deregistering from organic farming Organic Eprints
Koesling, Matthias; Løes, Anne-Kristin; Flaten, Ola; Kristensen, Niels Heine; Hansen, Mette Weinreich.
Every year since 2002, 150 to 200 farmers in Norway have deregistered from certified organic production. The aim of this study was to get behind these figures and improve our understanding of the reasoning leading to decisions to opt out. Four cases of deregistered organic farmers with grain, sheep, dairy or vegetable production were selected for in-depth studies. The cases were analysed from the perspective of individual competencies and the competencies available in the networks of the selected organic farmers. Besides the conspicuous reasons to opt out of certified organic farming, such as regulations getting stricter over time and low income, personal reasons such as disappointment and need for acceptance were also important. This shows that hard...

innovative Public Organic food Procurement for Youth (iPOPY). Lessons learned from implementing organic into European school meals – policy implications. Organic Eprints
Kristensen, Niels Heine; Hansen, Mette Weinreich; Nielsen, Thorkild.
The introduction of organic food offers new dimensions to school meals, and schools offer new dimensions to organic food – when tackled properly. In this paper we present findings from the iPOPY research project that is funded by the ERA-Net, CORE-Organic-I funding body network. It is based on studies of school food policies in Denmark, Finland, Italy and Norway. The embedded food traditions and cultures have had different attention in these countries, why also food related consumption, institutions and markets are quite heterogeneous and dynamic. Whereas school food services are relatively widely embedded in the school systems in Finland and Italy, the Danish and Norwegian school food is predominantly defined by the packed lunch brought from home...

Ethical principles and practice in organic processing - governance and corporate responsibility Organic Eprints
Hansen, Mette Weinreich; Nielsen, Thorkild; Kristensen, Niels Heine.
The authors emphasize the importance of reflecting values in relation to organic food production especially because both the standards for organic food processing and the value discussion are almost non-existing related to processing. There are two main claims in this paper. One claim is that there could be reluctance from the companies in discussing organic values because they fear to be associated with the organic pioneer movement and subsequently exclusion from mainstream. Another claim is that there is a need for upgrading the existing networks or maybe invite to creation of new networks around reflection on values since this issue need qualification in order to be used as an active for the companies

Økologisk skolemad – betingelser for de økologiske leverandører Organic Eprints
Nielsen, Thorkild; Hansen , Stine Rosenlund; Hansen, Mette Weinreich; Kristensen, Niels Heine.
