A detailed experimental study has been conducted to evaluate the effect of the two developed enclosures (simple and modified) on the noise emission of a small generator fuelled by natural gas. The sound of generator without enclosure and covered by developed enclosure was measured in front of the generator exhaust at five electric loading conditions (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% load). The sound was measured on a test site was managed according to SAE J1074 test procedure. The sound signals were measured using a precision sound level meter. The time domain sound signals were recorded in a lap-top computer hard disk. The digital sound was converted to the frequency domain using a developed Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) program to achieve narrow band signals.... |

In this research, the effects of storage duration and storage conditions on mechanical properties of cucumber fruit (Viola variety) were evaluated at different positions of the fruit length. The cucumber fruit mechanical properties determined in this study were firmness, apparent modulus of elasticity, failure stress, failure strain and failure energy. The mechanical properties determined under compression loading using puncture and uni-axial compression tests. The results showed that the storage duration, storage conditions and fruit test position had significant (P<0.01) effect on the mechanical properties of Viola cucumber fruit. The samples firmness, modulus of elasticity, failure stress and failure energy reduced about 49%, 39%, 38% and 33%,... |

Agrivoltaics power generation is the simultaneous use of agricultural land and photovoltaic panels. In such cases, the panels are placed more sparsely, compared to conventional photovoltaic plants. Furthermore, the panels might be mounted at higher heights, to provide the required space for the farm. Due to this arrangement of the panels in wide areas with crops on the farm, maintenance of the panels is a hard task. The major part of maintenance is to clean the panels, since the accumulation of farm dust and bird excrement can reduce the efficiency of the panels. In Agrivoltaics plants, the panels can be scattered, thus it is not economical for each panel to have a dedicated cleaning robot. This paper presents the initial design and analysis of an... |

Physical properties of granular solids are essential to design appropriate, efficient, and economic bulk solids handling and storage equipment. Flow of vermicompost is often restricted by caking and bridging, which occurs during transportation and storage. This problem could be due to a number of factors including storage moisture, temperature, particle size, and consolidation stress. There is lack of study on the effect of the mention factors simultaneously on flow index, cohesive strength and angle of internal friction of vermicompost. The aims of this work were to discuss the primary factors affecting flowability of vermicompost as granular solids and powders, as well as using shear testing methodologies for this biomass material. The experiments... |
