Einfluss von Düngung und Sorte auf Ertrags- und Qualitätsparameter von Verarbeitungskartoffeln im Ökologischen Landbau Effect of fertilization and cultivar on yield and quality factors of potatoes for processing in organic farming Organic Eprints
Haase, Dipl.-Ing.agr. Thorsten; Schüler, Dr. Christian; Kölsch, Ing. Eberhard; Heß, Prof. Dr. Jürgen; Haase, Dr. Norbert U..
The effect of different sources of K and N on graded yields, dry matter, reducing sugars and quality of french fries and crisps, respectively were examined in two maincrop varieties (AGRIA and MARLEN). Fertilizers applied were cattle manure, potassium sulphate (PS), PS + grinded horn, grinded horn (GH) and a control. Results of two-factorial field experiments (2002-2004) on a loamy sand are presented. Cultivar and fertilizer had a significant effect on final yield, combined mineral K and organic N (PSGH) being the most efficient fertilizer with regard to graded yields for crisp (>40 mm) and french fries production (>50 mm). K content of tubers could be increased, but dry matter was lowered by most fertilizers, so that only the unfertilized plots...

Einfluss von ligninhaltigen Komposten und Pflanzgutgesundheit auf den Befall mit Rhizoctonia solani bei Kartoffeln Organic Eprints
Schulte-Geldermann, Elmar; Bruns, Dr. Christian; Heß, Prof. Dr. Jürgen; Finckh, Prof. Dr. Maria Renate.
The effects of initial seed potato infection and suppressive composts made of mixtures of organic household and yard waste on the R. solani severity in potatoes were tested in field trials under organic conditions at the University Kassel in the years 2006-08 and at two sites in northern Germany in 2008. Composts directly applied in strips to the seed tuber area at 5 t dry matter ha-1 significantly reduced both the infestation of harvested potatoes with black scurf and the percentage of tubers with malformations and dry core The rate of initial seed tubers infection and the site significantly affected tuber health and quality.

Impact of agronomic measures on yield and quality of organic potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) for industrial processing Organic Eprints
Haase, Thorsten; Haase, Dr. Norbert U.; Heß, Prof. Dr. Jürgen.
Three field experiments were conducted during 2002 and 2004 on two sites in Germany in order to examine the impact of preceding crop, pre-sprouting, N- and K-fertilization and cultivar on total tuber fresh yields, tuber DM, glucose and fructose concentration, as well as the colour of crisps and the quality score of French fries at harvest and after storage. Generally, total tuber yields depended very much on the growing season. However, highest yields were obtained when horn grits were applied along with potassium sulphate. Increasing yields after cattle manure fertilization could be attributed to K rather than N. Combined N and K fertilization may cause DM concentration to fall short of the required minimum for crisps. Pre-sprouting and storage increased...

Zum Einfluss von Standort und Sorte auf Ertrag, Sortierung und Qualität von ökologisch erzeugten Kartoffeln für die Verarbeitung zu Chips Organic Eprints
Haase, Dipl.Ing. agr Thorsten; Krause, Dipl.Ing. agr Tanja; Heß, Prof. Dr. Jürgen; Böhm, Dr. Herwart; Loges, Dr. Ralf; Haase, Dr. Norbert.
Previous experiments (2000-2001) suggested a strong impact of the site on which organic potatoes are cultivated on the quality of tubers for processing to crisps. In 2003 and 2004, six varieties were selected to be examined consequently on three different sites. Total and graded yield was affected by variety and site. Dry matter content of all varieties was on each site above the required level of 235 %. Reducing sugar content of tubers after harvest was very low and crisps quality very high, only after a storage period varieties could be differentiated. Cautious recommendations of varieties for organic crisp production are given in the paper.
