| The present study examined the floristic composition of three fragments of Araucaria Forest (AF) in the Planalto Catarinense region of southern Brazil as well as the floristic contextualization of these areas in relation to other remnant AF sites. Three AF fragments at different altitudes were analyzed in the municipalities of Campos Novos, Lages, and Painel. Fifty 200 m² plots were examined in each fragment and all of the trees with CBH (circumference at breast height) > 15.7 cm were identified. | O presente estudo avaliou a diversidade e estrutura da vegetação de fragmentos de floresta aluvial no Município de São Sebastião da Bela Vista, MG, e as principais variáveis ambientais que influenciam essa vegetação. Os estudos das variáveis ambientais (dados de amostras superficiais dos solos, nível freático no solo, cobertura do dossel e impactos ambientais) e da composição e estrutura da vegetação arbórea (DAP ³ 5 cm) foram conduzidos em 54 parcelas de 200 m², alocadas em floresta ciliar com influência aluvial e em cinco fragmentos de floresta aluvial. | A dinâmica da comunidade arbórea e de 26 populações componentes foi investigada em um fragmento de floresta estacional semidecídua em Piedade do Rio Grande, Minas Gerais, com base em inventários conduzidos em 1999 e 2004 em 30 parcelas de 400 m², 12 das quais foram locadas na borda do fragmento e 18 em seu interior. O objetivo foi verificar se a comunidade e populações arbóreas (a) estavam estáveis no período, e (b) mostraram uma dinâmica mais acelerada na borda do fragmento que em seu interior. | ABSTRACT: The natural regeneration process is essential for forest maintenance since it is critical for establishing new tree individuals. This study aimed to improve the understanding of the regenerative component dynamics of Araucaria Forests in Southern Brazil. We investigated the effects of climate, light, tree component structure and anthropogenic disturbance on tree species regeneration. | ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to characterize the demographic structure and spatial pattern of Campomanesia xanthocarpa (Mart.) O. Berg, Myrcianthes gigantea (D. Legrand) D. Legrand and Myrciaria delicatula (DC.) O. Berg. Within one hectare of Ombrophilous Mixed Forest, all the three populations' individuals were counted and measured with regard to their height and diameter.
