Anchimolgus gratus n. sp., associated with the fungiid coral Lithactinia novaehiberniae Lesson, 1831 in New Caledonia, is distinguished from its congeners (except A. pandus Humes, 1978) by the formula III,I,5 on the third segment of the exopod of leg 4. The new species differs from A. pandus which is much smaller and in which the female genital double-somite is as long as wide.

This report of lichomolgid copepods found for the first time associated with octocorals in the Pacific Ocean includes six species, two of them new. Paramolgus eniwetokensis n. sp. and Paramolgus ostentus n. sp. are associated with Lobophytum pauciflorum (Ehrenberg). New host records include Acanthomolgus fissisetiger (Humes & Ho, 1968a) from Pachyclavularia violacea (Quoy & Gaimard), Anisomolgus insolens (Humes & Ho, 1968b) from Lobophytum pauciflorum, Metaxymolgus aculeatus (Humes & Ho, 1968a) from Nephthea chabrolii Audouin, and Paradoridicola adelphus (Humes & Ho, 1968b) from Lobophytum pauciflorum.

The family Lichomolgidae Kossmann, 1877 is raised to the rank of a superfamily and subdivided into 5 families (3 of them new). Keys are provided to 76 genera belonging to the Lichomolgidoidea (32 new), which embrace 324 species. The new genera are diagnosed and of all genera the type-species is indicated.

Collocherides bleptus n. sp. (Copepoda: Siphonostomatoida) associated with an intertidal ophiuroid in Madagascar

Collocherides bleptus n. sp. is associated with a brittle star, Macrophiothrix sp., at Nosy Bé, in northwestern Madagascar. The new copepod differs from its two congeners by its larger size and by having leg 5 in the female with an elongate distal segment bearing only two setae.

Two new species of Macrochiron (Lichomolgidae) from Madagascar, associated with hydroids, are described: M. lobatum from Lylocarpus phoeniceus and M. vervoorti from Aglaophenia cupressina. New host records are: M. valgum Humes, 1966, from Gymnangium hians and G. gracilicaulis, and M. rostratum Humes, 1966, from Gymnangium hians, G. gracilicaulis, and Aglaophenia delicatula. Keys for both sexes of the species in the genus are included.

Katanthessius stocki new species, associated with the opisthobranch Discodoris heathi off California, is distinguished from Katanthessisus delamarei, its only congener, by its smaller size, the 1 – segmented endopod in leg 4, and the strongly recurved claw on the maxilliped of the male.

Based upon material collected in Madagascar, Enewetak Atoll, New Caledonia, and the Moluccas, seventeen new species of Xarifia and one new species of a new xarifiid genus (Lipochrus) are described from various species of Acropora, Montipora, Alveopora, Cyphastrea, and Echinopora. Several previously known species of Xarifia are redescribed in part and new hosts and geographical records are listed. A key to the three genera of the Xarifiidae is provided, as well as tabular differentiation of the 39 species of Xarifia. The external morphology of Xarifia is discussed.

A new species of Scambicornus (Copepoda, Cyclopoida, Lichomolgidae) associated with a holothurian in Madagascar, with notes on several previously described species

A new lichomolgid copepod, Scambicornus lobulatus, associated with a holothurian, Bohadschia graeffei, is described from the region of Nosy Bé, Madagascar. Certain previously described species of Scambicornus in that area are redescribed in part. New host records are: S. campanulipes from Actinopyga lecanora and A. miliaris, S. idoneus from Argiodia nobilis and Holothuria scabra, S. modestus from Brandtothuria impatiens and either Microthele difficilis or Urodemas ehrenbergi, and S. tuberatus from Bohadschia marmorata.

The type-species of the genus Doridicola Leydig, 1853, D. agilis Leydig, 18 has been re-examined. The armature of the exopod of the fourth leg of D. agilis is II,I,5, thus identical to that of the genus Metaxymolgus Humes & Stock, 1972. Metaxymolgus is synonymized with Doridicola. Those species formerly attributed to Doridicola but having an armature of III,I,5 on the endopod of the fourth leg, are placed in a new genus, Critomolgus.

Coralliomyzon tenens, gen. n., sp. n., associated with the coral Turbinaria peltata gen. n., sp. n., associated with the coral (Esper) in Madagascar, is placed in a new siphonostomatoid family, the Coralliomyzontidae, along with Cholomyzon Stock & Humes, 1969. The new family, close to the Asterocheridae, is characterized chiefly by the maxilliped having 2 basal segments and 2 distal segments forming together a clawlike part, the absence of an inner seta on the first and second segments of the exopod of leg 1, leg 4 reduced to a minute process with 1 or 2 setae, and leg 5 reduced to 2 setae.

The cyclopoid copepod Pseudomyicola spinosus (Raffaele & Monticelli) from marine pelecypods, chiefly in Bermuda and the West Indies

The myicolid copepod Pseudomyicola spinosus is reported from 22 new hosts (pelecypods) in Bermuda and the West Indies, from 1 new host (a pelecypod) in Madagascar, and from an ascidian (Pyuridae) in Curaçao (probably an accidental association). P. spinosus is redescribed, based on specimens from Isognomon alatus in Bermuda. Among 316 P. spinosus from Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Barbados, Brazil, Senegal, Madagascar, and Jugoslavia the dimensions of the body and caudal ramus varied widely. The ornamentation of the anal segment showed four different conditions of spination, and sometimes included an extra long ventral setule on either or both sides. The specimens studied are regarded as one species, P. spinosus, without apparent subspecific differences....

Four species of Copepoda (three Siphonostomatoida, one Poecilostomatoida) are recorded as associates of shallow-water echinoids, from Curaçao, St. Martin, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. The siphonostomatoids Chelacheres longipalpus and C. optans belong to a new genus and species of the family Asterocheridae. Another species of the same family is provisionally attributed to Asterocheres simulans (T. Scott, 1898), previously recorded from Europe only. A fourth species, of the genus Pseudanthessius (family Pseudanthessiidae), belongs to a new species, Ps. exilicornis.

From the region of Nosy Bé, Madagascar, three new species of copepods belonging to the lichomolgid genus Macrochiron, associated with plumulariid hydrozoans, are described: M. lytocarpi and M. valgum from Lytocarpus philippinus and M. rostratum from L. philippinus and L. spectabilis. Certain features of the external anatomy of Macrochiron are briefly discussed.

Five lichomolgid copepods belonging to the genus Stellicola are reported from three species of the sea star genus Linckia in the Moluccas: Stellicola flexilis n. sp. from Linckia guildingi.
