Prediction of cereal feed value by near infrared spectroscopy Organic Eprints

Feed value in form of FEsv (Feed unit / kg dry matter, for piglets) and FEso (Feed unit / kg dry matter, for sows), EDOM (Enzyme Degradable Organic Matter) and EDOMi (Enzyme Degradable Organic Matter, Ileum) is used in the feed evaluation system for pigs. Analysis of feed value have highlighted that there is a significant variation between varieties as well as due to an environmental variation between regions and the harvest year. The chemical analysis is, however, time-consuming and costly, and it is therefore desirable to have a rapid and less expensive method, which makes it possible to carry out more analyses in-situ.

Prediction of Enzyme Digestibility of Organic Matter (EDOM) using Spectroscopy and Chemometrics Organic Eprints

Wheat and triticale are a primary energy source in the feedstuffs in swine diets. Enzyme digestibility of organic matter (EDOM) is an index used in the feed evaluation system for pigs. This is based on the close linear relationship between the in vitro enzyme digestibility of organic matter (EDOM) and in vivo total tract digestibility of energy (Boisen & Fernández, 1997). EDOM is a complex parameter calculated from the protein, carbohydrate, starch and fibre fractions undergoing a three step enzymatic incubation. It is therefore a challenge to relate EDOM to specific chemical bonds.

Muligheder for dansk brødkorn af god kvalitet. Vision og virkelighed Organic Eprints

Ved produktion af økologisk brødkorn såvel som konventionelt brødkorn er der en række krav, der skal være opfyldt for, at sikre en god kvalitet. Ved god kvalitet forstås såvel meludbyttet som forarbejdningsegenskaberne for melet i bageprocessen. Udbyttet af de dyrkede hvedesorter har været stødt stigende gennem de sidste 50 år. Dette kommer af en intensiv forædlingsindsats. Indsatsen har været koncentreret om vinterhvede, der har den største udbredelse. De nyere højtydende vinterhvedesorter er kortere, mere robuste mod lejesæd, svampeangreb og blomstrer tidligere end gamle sorter. Opnåelse af udbyttefordelene ved moderne sorter er koblet til høje niveauer af kvælstofgødskning, friholdelse for ukrudt (herbicider) og brug af fungicider. Det større udbytte...

The effect of nutrient supply on the baking quality of organic wheat cultivars Organic Eprints

Five different wheat cultivars (Thifun, Triso, Thasos, Spelt and Emmer) were cultivated in an organic study using six different organic compost types (two different household waste composts, sewage sludge compost, fruit and vegetable compost and two different renescience compost types) and one control with no manure applied. Bread was baked with flour from each of the samples. The protein content, the gluten content and the falling number were measured for the flour samples and specific volume, the sensory quality and instrumental measured hardness were measured on the bread samples. Eksisterende og mulige nye kvalitetsmål ved dyrkning og handel med korn Organic Eprints

Målet for landmanden er at få det største økonomiske afkast af sin produktion. Dette er ikke altid sammenfaldende med de kvalitetsmål, som modtageren af kornet opsætter, det være sig til maltbyg, brødhvede eller foder. Der er dog ved kontraktavl af f.eks. maltbyg og brødhvede mulighed for en merbetaling for at opfylde fastsatte kvalitetskrav. Derudover er det normalt en forudsætning at kvalitetskravene opfyldes for i det hele taget at kunne afsætte det producerede korn, medmindre der foretages en kvalitetsregulering, med mindre betaling for kornet som følge.
