EU’s generelle ønske om mindre import af sojaprotein og kravet om 100% økologisk fodring vil nødvendiggøre, at andelen af frøbælgplanter i sædskiftet øges. Frøbælgplanter som ært, hestebønne og lupin er oplagte afgrøder, blandt andet på grund af deres høje indhold af værdifulde proteiner og evnen til at fiksere luftens kvælstof. En af den største hindringer for at øge andelen af bælgplanter er de jordbårne patogener, der kan overleve mange år i jorden og derfor udgør en risiko for frugtbarheden af det økologiske dyrkningssystem. For at mindske risikoen for problemer med sædskiftesygdomme, anbefales flere dyrkningsfrie år mellem samme frøbælgplanteart. Weed density and biomass is often markedly reduced in intercrops (IC) compared to the respective sole crops (SC). Such IC-weed control advantages by either (i) Weed-suppression; a more effec-tive use of resources by IC or suppressing weed growth through allelopathy compared to SC or (ii) Weed-tolerance; use of resources that are not exploitable by weeds or convert resources to harvestable material more efficiently than SC. A higher degree of interspecific competition combined with a certain complementarity between intercropped species improves the crop stands competitive ability towards weeds. The weed-suppression approach from Liebman and Dyck (1993) are the most likely to explain the presented pea-barley IC findings. |

Intercropping (IC) is the simultaneous cultivation of more than one crop species on the same piece of land. The IC practice offers many advantages to organic agriculture in terms of resource use, yield stability, weed management, and increased diversification of agroecosystems. Field experiments carried out at two sites in Denmark over three consecutive cropping seasons showed that ICs of cereals and grain legumes gave higher yields, less weeds, lower infection with plant diseases, and higher grain quality compared to corresponding sole crops. |

Specificity of soil-borne legume pathogens on pea, lupin and faba bean is currently investigated in fields where grain legumes are intensively cultivated. The study has so far lead to the following conclusions -Legume host-pathogen interactions demonstrate specificity of pathogen populations particularly in pea and lupin. -A. euteiches rot root was specified to pea in Denmark as root rot symptoms and oospores of the pathogen never were observed in roots of faba bean and lupin -F. oxysporum followed by F. solani were most frequently isolated from plant roots in plots highly infested by lupin pathogens -F. avenaceum was most frequently isolated from plant roots in plots highly infested by pea pathogens -Pathogenicity tests showed F. solani followed... |

Et igangværende samarbejdsprojekt mellem Landbohøjskolen, Danmarks JordbrugsForskning og Risø , finansieret af FØJO (Forskningscenter for Økologisk Jordbrug), tager afsæt i at forøge produktionen af protein og kornafgrøder i det økologiske jordbrug for at blive i stand til at dække et stigende behov for fodermidler til specielt svin og fjerkræ. I henhold til nye EU regler skal alle fodermidler desuden være økologisk producerede, dvs. også fri for gensplejsede organismer, fra 2005. Denne forskning anses ikke kun at være relevant for Økologisk Jordbrug, men i høj grad også de konventionelle landbrugssystemer, specielt fordi debatten om import af soja forventes at fortsætte. |
