| The junior author has collected in Surinam at night on a dead log, a few specimens of a very interesting new aradid species representing a new genus in the subfamily Carventinae, which we propose to name Apterocoris surinamensis. All measurements were taken with a micrometer eyepiece, 25 units = 1 mm. Apterocoris Kormilev et Van Doesburg, new genus Ovate, more tapering anteriorly; first three antennal segments, femora, tibiae and lateral borders of the body, with erect, stiff bristles; entire body, with exception of apical half of antennal segment IV, labium and tarsi, covered with red brown incrustation. | The author has identified a lot of Aradidae (Hemiptera-Heteroptera) from the collections of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden. The following new taxa are proposed: Aneurus (Aneurillus) doesburgi n. sp. (Surinam); Mezira surinamensis n. sp. (Surinam); Mezira (Zemira) dentipes n. sp. (Sumatra); Neuroctenus longissimus n. sp. (Brasil); N. surinamensis n. sp. (Surinam); Natapictinus notatus n. sp. and N. surinamensis n. sp. (both from Surinam); Santaremia armata n. sp. (Surinam), and Usingerida montana n. sp. (Java). | A small lot of Phymatidae (except Phymatinae) from the Rijksmusem van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden, and a few specimens from the Instituut voor Taxonomische Zoölogie, Amsterdam, the British Museum (Natural History), London, and the Natal Museum, Pietermaritzburg, have been studied. The following new species are described: Themonocoris aethiopicus spec. nov. (Ethiopia), Lophoscutus sagimani spec. nov. (Suriname), Lophoscutus brasiliensis spec. nov. (Brazil), Lophoscutus geijskesi spec. nov. (Saba, Lesser Antilles). The male of Oxythyreus cylindricornis Westwood, 1841 is described for the first time (Natal), and additional records are given for other Phymatidae. |
