We present a new record of radiocarbon ages measured by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) on a deep-sea core collected off the Pakistan Margin. The C-14 ages measured on the planktonic foraminifera Globigerinoides ruber from core MD04-2876 define a high and stable sedimentation rate on the order of 50 cm/kyr over the last 50 kyr. The site is distant from the main upwelling zone of the western Arabian Sea where C-14 reservoir age is large and may be variable. Many independent proxies based on elemental analyses, mineralogy, biomarkers, isotopic proxies, and foraminiferal abundances show abrupt changes correlative with Dansgaard-Oeschger and Heinrich events. Oxygen history off Baja California over the last 80 kyr: A new foraminiferal-based record. ArchiMer

The intensity of the Oxygen Minimum Zone (OMZ) of the Eastern North Pacific (ENP) experienced strong variations during the last Glacial, mirroring changes in the balance between export production (O2-consumption) and water mass ventilation (O2-renewal). In this paper we present a new benthic foraminiferal assemblages record from Core MD02-2508, recovered from the Pacific slope off Baja California, Mexico. The record reflects oxygen conditions at the northern limit of the OMZ during the last 80 kyr. We statistically identified three assemblages, characteristic of dysoxic, suboxic and oxic conditions, which we used to produce the first semi-quantitative reconstruction of [O2] for the northeastern Pacific Ocean. Changes in productivity and intermediate circulation in the northern Indian Ocean since the last deglaciation: new insights from benthic foraminiferal Cd /Ca records and benthic assemblage analyses ArchiMer

We have measured Cd / Ca ratios of several benthic foraminiferal species and studied benthic foraminiferal assemblages on two cores from the northern Indian Ocean (Arabian Sea and northern Bay of Bengal, BoB), in order to reconstruct variations in intermediate water circulation and paleo-nutrient content since the last deglaciation. Intermediate water Cdw records estimated from the benthic Cd / Ca reflect past changes in surface productivity and/or intermediate-bottom water ventilation. The benthic foraminiferal assemblages are consistent with the geochemical data.
