Common beans are legumes of extreme importance for the food security of developing countries. Because it is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions, it is subject to the stress effects caused by this type of climate, such as water stress and heat. Cross-tolerance allows plants to acclimate to a range of different stresses after exposure to a specific short-term stress. The present work had as objective to evaluate the induction of cross-tolerance by heat stress at 38ºC and water stress simulated by polyethylene glycol (PEG) in 3 different osmotic potentials in the germination of the brazilian cultivars IPR Uirapuru and IPR Campos Gerais in a randomized block design, setting up a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial scheme, with eight replicates of 25 seeds.... |

The common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an important legume that is part of the daily food of the brazilians, being important for other countries. Because it is widely cultivated in almost all brasilian regions, is subject to environmental inclemencies, such as saline stress. Salicylic acid (S.A.) is an important plant hormone known to participate in pathways of systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against pathogens and also reported as a participant in the response to abiotic stresses. This study aimed to evaluate the action of salicylic acid prior to saline stress from three different concentrations of sodium chloride at the germination of a Brazilian common bean, cultivar Avaluna. The experiment was designed in randomized blocks, setting a 2x4... |

In vitro cultivation of basil allows the manipulation of the concentration of certain micronutrients, commonly neglected by the micropropagation protocols. It is a plant of great economic importance for the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, due to the components present in its essential oil. In view of the above, the objective of this study was to evaluate zinc (Zn) concentrations in the micropropagation of basil, in addition to antioxidant activity and total phenolic compounds. Basil seeds, cultivars Manolo and Grecco Palla were oxygenated for 4 h, passed through asepsis and placed in test tubes with MS medium supplemented with 30 g L-1 sucrose and 6.5 g L-1 agar and pH adjusted to 5.8. The treatments were composed by the addition or not of 25 μM of... |
