Short paper on ergotism, attempting to explain an outbreak of the disease in the southern provinces of Sweden (Småland and Bleking) in 1754 and 1755. Linnaeus gave its cause as the plant "Raphanus raphanistrum" growing in the fields there. Two copies, both in Linnaeus's hand, the fuller version signed "C. Linnaeus". Apparently presented to the Academy of Science. Not published in this form, later version as the dissertation "Raphania, 1763, resp. Rothman". |

Draft of Linnaeus fil.'s dissertation, which was never defended or published, concerning the clock of plants. 'Horologium plantarum' is a hastily written down unfinished draft of Linnaeus fil.'s dissertation. Its content relies on Linnaeus pater's writings, especially "Calendarium florae" (1756) and 'Regnblomman' (GB-110/LM/LP/BOT/6/7), with some additions by Linnaeus fil. who also gives some glimpses of his parents' lives in Uppsala and at Hammarby. Undated, but it is known from a letter from P. J. Bergius to E. G. Lidbeck, 13 July 1756 (at LUB), that Linnaeus fil. planned to submit a thesis on the subject in order to qualify for the demonstrator position at the Uppsala botanical garden. Judging by the quotes from the dissertation "Calendarium florae"... |

Generic names of insects with references to Johan Leonhard Frisch, "Beschreibung allerley Insecten in Deutsch-Land", Tom. I-II, Berlin, 1720. Linnaeus bought his copy of Frisch in Uppsala in 1730, as the inscription in the book indicates: 'Carl Linnaeus ups: 1730'. The notes must have been taken shortly after, as the manuscript is in an early hand. The layout indicates that genera names were written out first (delimited by a folding of the page), and information from Frisch added later. The arrangement of genera follows Linnaeus's classification as published in "Systema naturae" 1735. |

Description of "Aphyteia", probably intended for the dissertation "Planta Aphyteia", defended on 22 June 1776 by Erik Acharius (1757-1819). The dissertation is an account of "Hydnora africana" Thunb. (Hydnoraceae), a leafless parasite discovered by Carl Peter Thunberg in South Africa. This dissertation is the last over which Linnaeus acted as praeses. |
