Enhancement of botrallin and TMC-264 production in liquid culture of endophytic fungus Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12 after treatments with metal ions Electron. J. Biotechnol.
Luo,Haiyu; Xu,Dan; Xie,Rushan; Zhang,Xuping; Wang,Jian; Xuejiao,Dong; Lai,Daowan; Zhou,Ligang; Liu,Yang.
Background: Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12, an endophytic fungus from a poplar hybrid, was a high producer of botrallin and TMC-264 with various bioactivities. In this study, the influences of eight metal ions (i.e.,Mn2+,Na+, Mg2+,Zn2+,Cu2+,Fe2+,Fe3+ and Al3+) on botrallin and TMC-264 production in liquid culture of the endophytic fungus Hyalodendriella sp. Ponipodef12 were investigated. Results: Three most effective metal ions (Zn2+,Cu2+ and Mg2+) along with their optimum concentrations were screened. The optimum addition time and concentrations of Zn2+,Cu2+ and Mg2+ were further obtained respectively for improving botrallin and TMC-264 production. The combination effects of Zn2+,Cu2+ and Mg2+ on the production of botrallin and TMC-264 by employing...

Effects of Leached Amylose and Amylopectin in Rice Cooking Liquidon Texture and Structure of Cooked Rice BABT
Yang,Liu; Sun,Yong-Hai; Liu,Yang; Mao,Qian; You,Li-Xin; Hou,Ju-Min; Ashraf,Muhammad Aqeel.
ABSTRACT Effects of leached amylose (AM) and amylopectin (AP) on textural and morphological properties of cooked rice were investigated separately by replacing cooking liquid with AM and AP separated from pouring cooking liquid. The pouring of cooking water reduced the hardness (from 28.45 to 19.42N) and stickiness (from 1.74 to 1.19N·s) significantly. However, the addition of AM and AP enhanced the hardness (27.63N) and stickiness (1.71N·s).Scanning electron microscopy show that the leached short-chain AM entered the surface hollows in the cooked rice after water evaporation. Meanwhile, the Long-chain AM cross-linked to formed a three-dimensional network structures, which covered on the filled hollows. This distribution led to a harder texture of cooked...

Expression analysis of three immune genes Interferon-gamma, Mx and Interferon regulatory factor-1 of Japanese flounder ( Paralichthys olivaceus ) BABT
Zhang,Feng; Qiu,Xuemei; Liu,Yang; Wang,Juan; Li,Xipeng; Wang,Xiuli.
ABSTRACT IFN-γ (Interferon-gamma), Mx and IRF-1 (Interferon regulatory factor-1) are main immune-related genes and they play important roles in the innate immune system of vertebrates. In this study, the expression level of the three immune-related genes in twelve tissues of normal adult Japanese flounder was detected using semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Thirteen time points (3h, 6h, 9h, 12h, 24h, 36h, 48h, 60h, 72h, 84h, 96h, 108h, 120h) were selected to analyze the expression of IFN-γ, Mx and IRF-1 in spleen, head kidney, liver of Japanese flounder infected with Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The Japanese flounder IFN-γ, Mx and IRF-1 genes were differently expressed in these tissues and had high expression levels in classical fish immune organs like spleen and...

Sulbactam-based therapy for Acinetobacter baumannii infection: a systematic review and meta-analysis BJID
Chu,Haiqing; Zhao,Lan; Wang,Minggui; Liu,Yang; Gui,Tao; Zhang,Jingbo.
BACKGROUND: A number of studies have reported on the effectiveness of sulbactam-based therapies for Acinetobacter baumannii infection; however, there is little evidence that sulbactam-based therapies are more or less effective than alternative therapies. Unfortunately, there is a distinct lack of high quality data (i.e., from randomized controlled trials) available on this issue. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis comparing the efficacy of sulbactam-based and non-sulbactam-based regimens in the treatment of A. baumannii infection. METHODS: We searched PubMed, MEDLINE, Biomedical Central, Google Scholar, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, the Cochrane library, and the Directory of Open Access using the terms "sulbactam...

Alternariol 9-methyl ether from the endophytic fungus Alternaria sp. Samif01 and its bioactivities BJM
Lou,Jingfeng; Yu,Ruiting; Wang,Xiaohan; Mao,Ziling; Fu,Linyun; Liu,Yang; Zhou,Ligang.
Abstract One bioactive compound, identified as alternariol 9-methyl ether, was isolated from the crude extract of the endophytic fungus Alternaria sp. Samif01 residing in the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge. Alternariol 9-methyl ether was active against bacteria with minimum inhibitory concentration values ranging from 25 to 75 µg/mL and median inhibitory concentration (IC50) values ranging from 16.00 to 38.27 µg/mL. The IC50 value of alternariol 9-methyl ether against spore germination of Magnaporthe oryzae was 87.18 µg/mL. Alternariol 9-methyl ether also showed antinematodal activity against Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and Caenorhabditis elegans with IC50 values of 98.17 µg/mL and 74.62 µg/mL, respectively. This work is the first report on alternariol...

Retrospective evaluation and prediction of clearance and toxicity of high dose methotrexate in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients BJPS
Shan,Yuxia; Gao,Hui; Li,Zhong; Li,Jinghua; Liu,Yang; Li,Lujuan; Zhang,Qi.
To find the predictors of High Dose Methotrexate toxicities in childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Patients. This study included 198 Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia patients (303 infusions) who were treated with High Dose Methotrexate. Methotrexate levels at different time point were measured by modified enzyme multiplied immunoassay technique assay. The correlation between Methotrexate levels and toxicity was evaluated by Receiver Operating Characteristic curve. When the Methotrexate level at 42 h was lower than 0.76 µmol/L, the sensitivity for predicting thorough clearance at 66 h was 90.78%. When the Methotrexate level at 42 h was higher than1.5 µmol/L, the sensitivity for predicting delayed clearance was 82.17%. When the Methotrexate level at...

Antioxidant and immunomodulatory activities of Oviductus ranae in mice BJPS
Zhang,Yang; Liu,Yang; Yang,Xiudong; Cui,Hao; Xu,Xiaoxiao; Mao,Liping; Zhou,Hongli.
Oviductus ranae (OR) is a traditional Chinese medicine, which was first recorded in the Compendium of Materia Medica in the Ming Dynasty. OR contains high amounts of proteins and elicits therapeutic effects on neurasthenia, insomnia, and respiratory symptoms, which are related to oxidative stress and immunodeficiency. This study aimed to obtain the potential of OR for the development of functional food possessing antioxidant and immune-enhancement functions in the same dose. In antioxidant evaluation, OR can significantly decrease malondialdehyde and protein carbonyls (P < 0.05, P < 0.01) and significantly increase total superoxide dismutase and glutathione in a dose-dependent manner (P< 0.05, P < 0.01) against ethanol-induced oxidative stress...
