Biodegradation of reactive textile dyes by basidiomycetous fungi from brazilian ecosystems BJM
Machado,Kátia M.G.; Compart,Luciana C.A.; Morais,Rúbio O.; Rosa,Luiz H.; Santos,Mércia H..
The potential of Trametes villosa and Pycnoporus sanguineus to decolorize reactive textile dyes used for cotton manufacturing in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, was evaluated. Growth and decolorization halos were determined on malt extract agar containing 0.002g L-1 of the dye. T. villosa decolorized all 28 of the tested dyes while P. sanguineus decolorized only 9. The effect of culture conditions (shaking and dye and nitrogen concentration) on the degradation of Drimaren Brilliant Blue dye was evaluated during growth of the fungi in liquid synthetic medium. Shaking favored degradation and decolorization was not repressed by nitrogen. In pure culture, T. villosa and P. sanguineus decolorized synthetic effluent consisting of a mixture of 10 dyes. Higher...

Lignolytic enzymes produced by Trametes villosa ccb176 under different culture conditions BJM
Yamanaka,Renata; Soares,Clarissa F.; Matheus,Dácio R.; Machado,Kátia M.G..
The expression of the enzymatic system produced by basidiomycetous fungi, which is involved in the degradation of xenobiotics, mainly depends on culture conditions, especially of the culture medium composition. Trametes villosa is a strain with a proven biotechnological potential for the degradation of organochlorine compounds and for the decolorization of textile dyes. The influence of glucose concentration, addition of a vegetable oil-surfactant emulsion, nature of the surfactant and the presence of manganese and copper on the growth, pH and production of laccase, total peroxidase and manganese-dependent peroxidase activities were evaluated. In general, acidification of the medium was observed, with the pH reaching a value close to 3.5 within the first...

Enhancement of growth of Lentinus crinitus in soil using benomyl and vegetable oil BJM
Machado,Kátia M.G.; Matheus,Dácio R.; Rodrigues,Tatiana A.; Bononi,Vera L.R..
In order to identify alternatives for soil fumigation in bioremediation process, the addition of benomyl and vegetable oil on the growth of L. crinitus and mitosporic fungi were evaluated. Benomyl can be used as an alternative to methyl bromide. Addition of vegetable oil favors the growth of L. crinitus.
