| To reduce the practice of discarding commercially fished organisms, several measures such as a discard ban and extra allowances on top of landings quotas (“catch quota”) have been proposed by the European Commission. However, for their development and successful implementation, an understanding of discard patterns on a European scale is needed. In this study, we present an inter-national synthesis of discard data collected on board commercial, towed-gear equipped vessels operating under six different national flags spanning from the Baltic to the Mediterranean Seas mainly between 2003 and 2008. | The purpose of this report is to present possible impacts of new technology and changes in legislation on the profitability of different types of organic farms. The aim is also to look at both the current and future trends in the organic area in Denmark. Besides the economic aspects, the report also shows the nutrient surplus for selected organic farms. Analyses carried out at the Food and Resource Economic Institute (FOI) have previ-ously shown that price premiums of up to 50% on pig meat and 20% on arable farm products is needed to make the organic production profitable. | In this project the economic consequences of legislative changes and new technology in organic farming has been examined. Through an interactive process between research experts and agricultural advisors is a technical and biological description of 8 organic case-farms encountering 4 arable, 3 dairy and a single pig farm envisioned (Nielsen et al., 2003). The crop rotation and the production structure of the case farms were chosen as to depict the organic farms of the near future. | Udvikling i økologisk produktion hænger sammen med de fremtidige udviklingsmuligheder. I det gennemførte projekt er de økonomiske konsekvenser af skærpede økologiregler og ny teknologi i økologisk jordbrug beskrevet. Gennem dialog mellem forskere og rådgivere er der først udarbejdet en teknisk og biologisk beskrivelse af 8 økologiske case-bedrifter, hvoraf 4 er planteavlsbrug, 3 er mælkeproducenter og en er svineproducent (Nielsen et al., 2003). Ved valg af sædskifte og arealomfang er det søgt at beskrive fremtidens økologibedrifter. I analyserne opgøres ændringerne i forbruget af arbejdskraft og maskiner samt omkostninger og indtægter.
