| This project was one of 79 projects supported under the first open call under the Czech NGO Fund, financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. During the celebration meeting in June 24th, 2008 with Norwegian Embassy, this project was selected for public presentation as one of the best ones in the category of Environment Protection. The year 2008 was successful regarding the growing interest among organic farmers (11 new farms have joined the project), increasing number of participants in regular spring seminar (52 participants), PR activities (30 media references) and capacity building for Bioinstitut´s team (2 new co-workers were employed) were performed. | The yearbook brings summary of situation on field of organic farming, production, sale, distribution, consumption, promotion, education and research in the Czech Republic. The total acreage of organically farmed land at 31. 12. 2009 had increased to 398,407 ha, which represents 9,38 % of total agricultural land in CZ. Acreage under conversion had reached 26 % (i.e. 103,964 ha). This means the biggest yearly increase in the whole history of OF development (i.e. an increase of 56,775 ha). |

| Die Artenvielfalt an Pflanzen und Wildtieren und die Vielfalt der Landschaften werden zunehmend durch die sich ausbreitende intensive Landwirtschaft bedroht. Zwar gibt es europäische und nationale Agrarumweltprogramme, die dem entgegenwirken wollen. Sie werden aber zu wenig effizient umgesetzt. Ungenügendes ökologisches Fachwissen und zu wenig ökologisch ausgerichtete Beratung gehören zu den Hauptgründen für die schlechte Umsetzung dieser Programme. Der biologische Landbau geht im Gegensatz zur konventionellen, industriellen Landwirtschaft sehr schonend mit natürlichen Ressourcen um und eignet sich daher besonders zur Förderung einer reichhaltigen Kulturlandschaft mit einer grossen Arten- und Lebensraumvielfalt.
