Effects of the Dietary Inclusion of Xylanase on the Performance and Jejunum Morphometry of Meat-Type Quails Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Grecco,ET; Marcato,SM; Oliveira,TMM; Stanquevis,CE; Grieser,DO; Perine,TP; Finco,EM; Benites,MI.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the supplementation of two xylanase products to diets with reduced metabolizable energy fed to meat-type quails during the starter phase (1-14 days). A completely randomized experimental design in a 2 x 3 + 1 factorial arrangement two reduced metabolizable energy (ME) diets, inclusion or not of xylanase, and a control diet with no enzyme addition) was applied, totaling seven treatments with five replicates of 45 quails each. At 14 days of age, jejunum segments were collected for morphometry evaluation. No interaction between the studied factors were detected for performance and jejunal morphometry parameters. Body weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion were not influenced by...

Growth and body nutrient deposition of two broiler commercial genetic lines Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Marcato,SM; Sakomura,NK; Munari,DP; Fernandes,JBK; Kawauchi,ÍM; Bonato,MA.
The objective of this work was to study growth and body nutrient deposition profiles of male and female Cobb and Ross broilers using Gompertz equations. A total number of 1,920 one- to 56-day-old broilers were used. A randomized experimental design in a factorial arrangement (2 strains x 2 sex), with 4 replicates of 120 birds each, was applied. Diets were formulated to supply the nutrient requirements recommended by the genetic companies. A sample of birds was weekly weighed and sacrificed after 24 hours fasting. Carcasses were de-feathered and weighed again. The parameters of the Gompertz equation for body weight and its components (water, ashes, protein, and fat) were estimated. An interaction (p<0.05) between sex and breed was observed for mature...

Comparison of the Quality Adjusting of Nonlinear Models for Organs, Carcass and Body Components in Meat-Type (Coturnix Coturnix Coturnix) and Laying-Type (Coturnix Coturnix Japonica) Quail Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Grieser,DO; Furlan,AC; Ribeiro,PM; Zancanela,V; Del Vesco,AP; Gasparino,E; Zardin,AMSO; Marcato,SM.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the adjustment quality of nonlinear models to data organs growth, carcass and body components of meat-type (Coturnix coturnix coturnix) and japanese laying-type (Coturnix coturnix japonica) quail. A total of 1350 quails from one to 42 d old were distributed in a completely randomized design, with five replicates each. To determine the organs growth (gut, heart, liver and gizzard), carcass and body components (wing, thigh and drumstick, back and breast), two quails per repetition were slaughtered weekly. The data were evaluated in function of different nonlinear models (Logistical, Brody, Richards, Von Bertalanffy and Gompertz). All models studied adjusted the data, differing in adjustment quality. Brody...

Poultry feed metabolizable energy determination using total or partial excreta collection methods Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Avic.
Dourado,LRB; Siqueira,JC; Sakomura,NK; Pinheiro,SRF; Marcato,SM; Fernandes,JBK; Silva,JHV.
The aim of this work was to compare the efficiency of total (TC) or partial (PC) collection excreta methods to determine metabolizable energy in poultry feeds. A number of 180 12- to 21-day-old broilers were distributed into two treatments of six replicates of 10 birds each. A reference-diet was formulated to supply broiler requirements, and the test-diets consisted of 60% of reference diets and 40% of corn or soybean meal. Celite was added at 1% to the diets as a marker. Excreta and diet samples were analyzed for dry matter, energy, nitrogen, and acid-insoluble ash (AIA). AME of corn determined by partial collection (PC) was higher (3544 kcal/kg) as compared to total collection (TC) (3133 kcal/kg). However, no difference were observed for soybean meal...
